The obvious is to get both 
The Glock is a no frills, just plain out works, handgun, period. Simply put, they work. As for an EDC, you want it to perform when you need it to (regardless of the situation and environment), and you need to be knowledgable, feel comfortable carrying it, and be able to hit what you are shooting at. Glock does this with superiority IMO. I own many Glock models and my EDC is a Glock 90% of the time.
The other 10% I carry a 1911. 1911's are great handguns and are legendary in there design and function. As far as ergos, trigger feel, and accuracy, the 1911 is far better IMO. Not to say the Glock isn't any of these because it is as well, just not to the extent that the 1911 is IMO. The 1911 just puts a big big smile on your face when you shoot it
Everyone should have at least one 1911 if possible.
