1st Spydie ever

Hey guys just a quick question. While I was admiring the blade of my Caly, I noticed it is just stamped "Japan" and not "Seki City". Should I be worried about it being a knock off fake. Everything else screams authentic Spyderco? Any input?

Hard to find pictures of the right side of the knife but every one that I can find on Google says Japan, not Seki City!

I am far from certain, but it seems from memory that not all Japanese knives are Seki knives. The Caly, if bought from a reliable dealer, is as real as it gets.

Success, I finally figured it out, one handed opening with my Caly. It has been a while since I've had one. All liner and frame locks. I'm so proud I might even post a vid. Lol

My Caly bit me while cutting cooked chicken. Now my blood has been on her blade, she is so mine. Damn that thing is sharp!

What is the name of the Spyderco collaboration with Chris Reeves? I always wanted a Seby, but now I'm such a Spydie fan I think I could have the best of both worlds and save a buck or two

Hey Murf, I was actually thinking about you yesterday when I was fooling with one of my knives. I was where you are about a year ago; just discovering spyderco. Early in the process (I think my 3rd of 4th knife) I bought a spyderco titanium Military on a whim. I have bought many more since then but that Millie still remains my favorite knife. Anyway, I was sharpening it yesterday, and just generally fondling it, and I thought to myself "man, that new guy Murf needs to get himself a military. He would LOVE this thing!" True story. :). The regular military is a spectacular knife, and is a classic Sal Glesser design, but there is something special about the ti version. It just oozes quality! Plus it's got that c. Reeve frame lock. ;)

Hey surfingringo I was thinking a Pm2 but now I am really interested in the Millies. I wish there was someplace I could go and fondle them around here. Damn you would think frickin Orlando would have one. For God's sake Randall knives are made right down the street from me. I guess I better do some more intense lurking on the Web. Thanks for more confusion about my next Spydie 😜. Really, I appreciate all your input my friend. Lol 🙌

This thread needs more pics. Here's a Caly 3.5, PM2 and a Military. Give you an idea of each one's size. Welcome to the nuthouse, Murf. :)

Are you thinking of the Sage 2?

Not really a collaboration, but, as part of the Sage series, highlights Chris Reeve integral lock (R.I.L. = Reeve Integral Lock, more commonly called a frame-lock) and, also in the nature of the Sage series, uses scale materials commonly featured by the locks designer. (In this case, titanium)

I have so many wants floating around in my head I think I really need to find someplace to fondle them and compare.

Wow the millie is big, I'd really like to fondle one. Big in comparison to my Caly 3.5

Yes, the Military is a big knife. If you are like many of us, the first thing you will think when you lay your hands on it is "man, this thing is too big". Then you will put the thing in your pocket and see how well it carries. Then you will use it and see how well it functions. Then you will be ruined! ;)

Already ruined, though Caly looked big before I held her. She drew blood last night finally. Once I bleed on her, she is mine and I am her's . In my experience it will not happen again. I should just get it over when I unbox her. Cut myself in a location of my choice, bleed on her, the done. Lol. Btw your forum handle, do you surf?

I love my Millie! If you like big blades I think the PM2 will disappoint you.

For reference that book is 700 pages:)

Actually surfed all morning with my buddy from Orlando who spends about half his time down here. I visit him about once a year so if I head that way this summer I'll bring you a Millie to look at. :)
