These are simply amazing! Growing up in Indiana and spending nearly every May at the Speedway as a boy, some of these old cars bring back fantastic memories!
Thank you Doug, I appreciate it

I was a huge race fan as a kid (open wheel Indy/USAC) and live not too far from Long Pond, which originally started as a tri-oval for Indy cars in 1971, NASCAR didn't arrive until '74, 3 years after it opened. I saw the Unser Johnny Lightning Colt and Rutherford McLaren race (and got both Al and Johnny's autographs) and wished I could have seen Jimmy Clark in '65 and Graham Hill in the "whooshmobile" in '67. The last one I carved was the Parnelli Jones Watson, he was my Dad's favorite driver and that car won Indy the year I was born.
Now that I have all these great knives I'm itching to carve a couple more, Mario Andretti's 1969 Hawk and the 2010 BSA Special Dallara. I always make such a mess of the house when making them though
Duncan, yes, I make rough cuts with a coping saw, them carve the basic shape with knives (whatever was handy, SAK's, a Zippo Cut-About), then finish with sanding drums on a Dremel.
And ~P, you've discovered my dog Bear hanging around the basement, here's a better pic:
And here's his partner in crime Annie:
I say that because they ate the couch that Annie is laying on in that pic

Border Collies, even rescued mixed breeds need to be kept busy or they will find something to do!
