Wow, what a fabulous thread. Very kind of the OP to gift a couple of knives. It was a pleasure to read every post in this thread. Quite the talented and diverse group of folks here. Thanks to all who contributed, shared some insight into their hobbies and added a richness of character in the process. Sure glad I stumbled upon this thread, it was a treat. Thank You!

Congrats to the winners.

I did not initially post, I have won a couple GAW's recently. I just got my first Opinel. A small #6 with the slim handles. I bought one for my 6 year old as well. Great slicers! I am itchng to get some larger versions!

Thank you guys! I like the threads and GAs related to the users themselves, somehow.

I hope the winners will like the knives :)

Kind regards
Andi

As a winner of this give away, I have waited (reasonably) patiently for the knife to arrive. I did not know which knife I would receive. A package from Bavaria arrived today with the give away knife. Also in the package was a Victorinox knife with a locking blade, can opener, bottle opener/screwdriver, corkscrew, and other tools. This was, of course, totally unexpected by me. I can't begin to tell you, fellow forum members, and Andi in particular how much this gift means to me. This is not my first knife won in a give away, but it, like all the other few, holds a special place in my accumulation (hard to call what I do collecting really). Thank you again, Andi for your generosity. I don't know what additional customizations I might do to the Opinel, nor exactly how I'm going to finish it, but when I get it done, I'll be sure to start a new thread to show it off.

Here is a picture of the knives received from Andi this afternoon.

Oh, and now, I have another knife to carry in the September TOTM adventure. :D

I received my winner knife a week ago along with a another surprise, a Vic Climber. Andi is very generous and the knives are great. The Opinel will get a Linseed oil bath from me shortly and I will post pics of it when done. The Vic has been given to my 5 year old as her first knife so I want to say a special thanks to Andi for giving my daughter her first knife! She is very excited about it and has much to learn about safety when handling a knife so this will be a good learner for her as she grows. I told her a friend from Germany gave this to her and she said that was so nice of him:D Here are a few pics, more to come!

Hi Ed!
Hi Trevor!

Thanks for the nice and kind words, Gentlemen!

I´m glad everything worked fine with the shipment and costums didn´t make trouble. :)

It´s nice to see all four knives in their new homes. I´m sure, you guys (and girls, of course) will find your ways to paint the handle or whatever. It´s great, that it worked that way, imo. Nice pics, everyone. I like to see the Climber in daughters hands. I´m sure, it will be a good fellow to her for a lot of things, she´s gonna do.

Ed, the Victorinox is a Rucksack. I carried it for some times as an EDC, but I thought it would be a nice addition to the knife I´m sending. So it found its way into the mail :)

Kind regards
Andi
