2/18/2013 outage

I'm still having problems. When I go to post sometime I have to try multi times before it goes through.

Also when it finally does go through it pops up asking if I'm sure I want to leave the page and I have to click ok before it will post. Not normal and quite the pain.

Are you using Firefox? I've been having that problem too, but it's been happening for months, long before the issues of the last few weeks. It doesn't do it every time, but it is a little annoying.

It might be something related to chrome & firefox, I'm not sure. Let's keep this to the outage related issue.

Bad here again today, timing out 4 times out of 5.

Can't believe I'm paying $25/year for the privilege of waiting . . . :grumpy:

Not sure I'll do it again.

Intermittent and long loading times...not sure my end or yours. We are having a bad snow storm here so could be my end.

Yep, attackers have switched tactics. We're working on it.

We're working to alleviate these issues but when third parties are actively fucking with the site we have to respond as it happens. That requires active participation, cooperation & competence from our hosting provider as well. Make of that what you will.

Regardless, it's being addressed - If you don't want to pay for a membership, don't. You can either be patient and understand we're working on it, or choose not to.

Don't know if it's related, but I have tried several times today to start a new thread but cannot. Connection times out, using Pale Moon 64-bit. Quick posts and navigation are okay.

I have been running into very similar issues on other forums. Some vBulletin, some not. Interesting in that they are all knife related sites. The firearms sites I frequent have not been having issues. Coincidence I am sure. Another thing I have noticed here is that sometimes people say they are having problems when I am not and the reverse is also occurring. With the exception of a couple of major events. This and a $0.25...

Using IE9 and everything loads just fine. When I try accessing the site with Firefox, I get very slow load times and server timeouts.

I think that the people that run this site are very good. if we have problems from time to time so be it. I am not going to give up my membership over this. this is the best site for knife talks that is on the web and I tell every one about it too. thank you spark

I'm loading much better yesterday and today. Yesterday it was still hanging a little, but not as bad, today I haven't had any issues.

I will have to be patient and understand that you're working on it but it's hard. These pages have been loading really poorly again, many timed out tonight before loading.

I've got this twice in the last 15 min.
I'm on EST.
IE9

Also been very slow loading pages at times every day for a while now. Edits are not working right either.

Really SLOOOWW again; more of the 'database error' messages I posted about earlier. Lots of trouble posting replies or editing posts (Win7/FireFox 19.0).

I got locked out of the site last night when no one else did. (I checked with my co-moderator and he still had full access.) I had two windows open. One to the Traditional Forum I moderate. The second was a PM conversation I was having with my co-moderator.

Suddenly, the site absolutely refused to load. I closed the browser. I opened a new browser session. The browser said I was not connected. I closed Firefox and opened IE8. It said no connection. I tried my email. It said it could not find the email server. I stopped and cold booted the machine. No connection. After about 10 minutes I got a connection. I tried to open BF. It would not load and all my connectivity disappeared again for another 10 minutes. Not even frickin email.

I use Firefox and run Win XP-Pro. Virus is Avast. Firewall is Comodo. I run off a router with its own firewall. During each connectivity outage, my security software reported I was connected and no viruses.

This is the second time this has happened. Both times I was browsing BF. I have had no other connectivity issues. Ever.

Explain please.
