2 Best EDC knives going today...

Best for EDC. Really? You mean like one knife to rule them all, and in your pocket bind them?

All things considered, the 2 best EDC knives going today are probably the (1) Benchmade Bugout, and (2) Spyderco Para 3 lightweight. I kinda like my Benchmade mini grip a tad better than the Bugout, but the Bugout is such a lightweight champ, and when you add in the deep carry pocket clip, that just pushes it over the top in that battle. That said, you really have to pay for the Benchmade Bugout, as they are running well over $160 now.

After doing research online I’ve came ironically to the exact same two knives.
I wish to own the sharpest best quality knife made. Price isn’t an issue. That’s why I registered here. Hopefully someone with the knowledge can tell me of the knife I’m looking for in an everyday carry.

O Oversig In case you haven't noticed, it isn't that simple - there are too many knives available, and too many dissenting opinions.

The best advice I can give you is to log out now. Pick out a knife you really like, in a price range you can afford, and enjoy it. Don't question your decision. Don't waste time looking at knife sites or videos. And, above all else, do not return to this forum. Your relationships and your bank account will do much better without us.
(I used to carry one knife for years at a time, and only buy a new one when I lost or broke it. Now I typically carry three...a modern folder, a traditional, and a fixed blade. I've spent thousands (understating the financial impact is a sign of the disease). Dabbled with rotations and modifications. I've bought new knives, realized they weren't for me, and set them aside to be nearly forgotten. Worse - I've bought new knives, recognized that they were everything I could want or need in a knife...and just set those aside - unused and uncarried - as well. And I'm NORMAL compared to some of the people on this site. Run away!!)

If money is no object, then buy those and see what you think of them. Or, as I recommend to most people, go to a well stocked knife shop and handle as many as you can. There is no ‘best’, only favorites. You can spend under $70 for a good quality edc that will serve you well, or you can spend thousands. What you may like, another may not (and vice versa). Brand loyalty plays a lot into choosing for some. What opening do you want, what lock do you want, blade shape/steel, size, handle shape/size/material, warranty, bearings vs washers, etc….? Whatever you decide, understand that all you need is one …more!🤣

For my money the best 2 edc knives, I carry a Buck 110 sport and a Vantage pro. Those are my edc knives that perform in my work and enjoyment.

Indeed, it is more complicated than this.

If you want to own the sharpest knife, learn to sharpen. Get yourself some good stones or go right to a guided system like the KME. Get an affordable knife that makes you happy in 14C28N. (It's a great everyday steel that is relatively easy to sharpen.) With a little practice, you'll be able to get it much sharper than what you'd get out of the box on knives costing three times as much.

There are many fine options in this thread. I own a few of the knives mentioned as I tend to buy and try but not sell.

How they look on paper is a good place to start but you can’t know how you will truly gel with a particular model until you actually try it yourself.

I also don’t think I could narrow it down to one or even two models as “best” from what I actually own, and there are many, many good options that I don’t own.

The two I carry the most lately are my small 31 with micarta and CN ladder Damascus and my Tactile Rockwall thumbstud.

A lot of people like ZT for edc these days.
I’ve been carrying my 0909 a Lot lately, I like a heavier knife that feels sturdy.
And since I resharpened a couple times through the factory edge, it seems to be holding it better now. I didn’t really believe in the “burnt factory edge” thing, but now I see it’s real. I also went a bit lower on the angle so that might’ve helped too, but this older example in S35VN is holding up great, not soft like people used to say about their heat treat.
The 0909 is definitely not going to be a “best” for many people though.

^All factors considered the 0801 is one of the best EDCs they’ve ever made too.
I carried one daily for a while at my factory job, gave it to a good friend, and now i have an 0801ti that replaced it. Same thing, just S35VN instead of Elmax, and a bit different looking with the speed holes in the handle, but that is one hell of a knife. Full titanium, awesome action and one of, if not my favorite blade steels.
Many will say the 0562 is the best edc, and it’s a great edc choice too, just depends on what design you prefer, really.
The 0566 and 0357 would be “ultimate edc” contenders, but that comes down to personal preference and whether you like the assisted opening or not.
And honestly, I wish the companies who make these hard use knives, like ZT and especially Hinderer would’ve stuck with S35VN (or 45) for the majority. It’s tougher than 20CV, easier to sharpen, but since most (a lot) are safe queens, I guess people want that “premium” stuff, even if the geometry (.165” & Thick BTE) would benefit from something tougher, for an almost insignificant loss in edge retention :-/

SAK Hercules or Evo Grip 14, or Huntsman, or a Leatherman Charge+ TTI and a stockman, if I have to limit myself to just two.

Then when your knife obsession cools a little, you start looking at other pocket "tools" to color coordinate with your knives. Then, you start learning about photography so you can take better pictures of your knives. Then, you start learning about cameras.....

Buck 110 for me, got a Buck 501 for the Missus because she kept breaking her fingernails, trying to open modern packaging, and a trip to the fingernail boutique costs more than a high-end knife, seriously, $ 400 - 500 -600 for a "set of nails."....

My 110 is old, bought it in 1989, so it's 425M, and the one given to me as a youngster by my Dad back in 1968, is 440C. Her 501 is in S30V, with Elkhorn grips, and a nice little leather sheath...and she actually wears it on her belt, as an "accessory with purpose", as she calls it.

So, if the Missus is complaining about your buying knives as often as she gets her hair, nails, and feet done, buy another knife or two for her, when they arrive she'll start in on you, " as God is my witness if you buy another knife I will send you to Him " ..... until she realizes the knives shipped, are for everyday use for her, same like she has a thousand purses and shoes, for different days, now she has the same in knives, and realizes that knives really are an " accessory with purpose."

Anyway....not a day goes by when a Buck 110 is not on my belt.
