2 Purposes, 2 Knives - Help me out here!

The Boss Jack is a great vest choice, and although it's Swamp Rat instead of Busse Combat, the RatManDu is also worth considering if you want to go a little larger, but not too much. I'd lean more toward a BWM as a chopper with all-purpose capabilities -- it isn't as good a dedicated chopper as the CG BM because it's lighter, but I think it's a better all-arounder.

Some people have posted about loosening a handle rivet by throwing the bigger ones.

Others have thousands and thousands of throws with no handle rivet problems.

I have seen one pic of handle rivets bending under the stress of really heavy batonning, but I can't for the life of me think how anyone would bend them by batonning through "normal" medium like wood.

I would give an emphatic Yes, as an answer to whether the rivets are solid. Never had a problem at all.

so G10 it is.
i had a look at mashed cat's homepage, really nice stuff they got there, probably gonna get the sheaths etc. from them.

the blk/tan G10 mag (mag is for magnum handles, right?) handles look awesome i think, let's hope i can get a hold on those somewhere.

can i start a WTB thread somehwere, or will i have to search the "for sale" forum?

strange, why can't i see any posts in the wanted to buy forum? because i'm no gold member?

it's because i'm no gold member. well, any other option on how to post specifically what i need? i don't want to bother the dealers themselves.

Another vest knife you might want to check out is the Jack Hammer. It's a SJT variant and is slightly smaller than the HR. It also has the grooves on the blade like the HR.

Silverdragon33 makes a great point about the SJTAC in place of the HR. A little lighter in weight and about the same size overall, but I feel your input on the CGFBM is the best for a 2nd blade. A large knife with tremendous chopping ability and lighter in weight than the Fat Boys. I spent 15 + years Army and was a Scout Platoon Sgt. I wish to He-l I had these blade options when I was in. The only two other knives that REALLY would interest me in carring for CQC is the ST-56 and the JH. These blades are super fast, strong and lite weight.

Of course my statement is like a nose on your face, everyone has one. My .02!!!

You can post and view a WTB for yourself, you just can't peruse others' ads. This is to prevent people from cruising the WTB section and selling "under the table" without being a Gold member.

For vest carry, I've considered a SAR4, SAR5, Boss Jack or a new CABS LE...

for the time being I use a Nimravus

The Urban Grudge seems tailor made for this option.

alright, so i can post a WTB thread, and others can see it, so that would work?

RussMo what is the ST-56 you are talking about?

btw are there Hell Razors combat grade? if so, what different specs do they have?

thanks a lot for all your input, it's really appreciated!

edit: i just wondered, how good does Scrapyard's SR-77 do compared to INFI? and what about Resiprene C? seems like a good material?

I second the Urban Grudge, this knife is an ideal SD knife, thats its main purpose. You owe it to yourself to handle one of these.

after browsing the ForSale forum for a while, it seems the black/tan (black/whiteish) G10 handles weren't made for the CGFBM.
do you think the Busse custom shop could change them? if so, how much would that set me back approximately?

yes.
around $60 IIRC.

it won't be quick though.
Garth and crew are awesome but very busy.

perhaps BAN or Norcalblacktail will do it for you instead.
they'll likely be more expensive, but quicker, and do awesome work.

email Garth@ for the custom shop, or PM/email BAN or Norcalblacktail for info.

There were, but I've seen a pic of only one that had the whiter type of the black & tan G-10 magnum sized grips and I don't believe that many with B&T G-10 were ordered.

I was fortunate enough to get a few with the 'real' B&T G-10 (when I say real, I mean that the TAN was actually TAN ;))...

well i started a WTB thread, and already found a seller for the HR in black/white (aka tan)!

awesome, i'd never have expected that to work so quickly!

impressive collection you got there Jaxx, you're right, i've seen the black/true tan you've got pictured as well on the for sale section, but none till now with black/white.
but i see steriles were made, great to hear!

i'll try to contact either the custom shop or the modders when noone answers my WTB thread, i'm positive they can help me out.

again, thanks for your help guys!

We have not seen the real Black/Tan G10 from Busse since the original CGFBM run, so it is unlikely that the BCS will be able to help you. Never hurts to ask. I think the turnaround on a simple job like that will be pretty quick

btw ... where are you? You might edit your profile to include your location. There might just be a helpful Hog near you.
