I just thought this would be an interesting thread. What really led me to Becker knives was this forum.I originally came to blade forums to look at some throwing knives. The first thing I noticed is that there was almost no activity there,so I started looking around and came across Becker knife pics and I forgot all about throwing knives after that. Now I have a Bk-9 a Bk-2 and am thinking of getting another 2 for some reason I can't really explain.Becker knives and the BK&t forum was'nt my original destination but it's a sideroad I'm really glad I took:p

I did some research on a good survival type knife, and the BK2 came highly recommended. I ended up buying one, and found this site on Google while researching it.

I found the BK11 online and was looking at it and found this forum and was convinced that I wanted the knife and thought I would share and learn.

my first knife purchase was a bk11. since then i admired the bk2 but at that time $60 for a knife was OUTRAGEOUS! then i began collecting and buying more expensive stuff including a $150 esee 5, but i still admired the bk2 and wasnt satisfied, so i went out and got my first bk2 in a trade. then when i wanted to know more about beckers all my questions were pretty much answered in the bkt forum. These guys know their stuff and the knives are just awesome. entered once and its been all down hill from there....and i dont ever wanna go back....pick up the bread crumbs im home...

EDIT: the reason i bought the bk11 first is i was blown away by the concept of the "becker necker" id never heard of a knife you could wear around your neck! o ignorance is not bliss when it comes to beckerland

well, earlier in the year moosez45 had sent me a BK14. and just 2 weeks ago i met him in person. i handled more of the line, liked it, and decided to start posting here more.

i guess you can say moose is good at reeling people in. ;)

And what keeps me around is of course I like Becker knives but it also goes a little farther than than. I have and do belong to other hobby/sport related forums but none of them are quite as "fun" as this forum. I mean between things like pass arounds and contests there is a much more of a hands on feel to it than the others I belong to. Sorry drifted a little off topic there. ;)

Same except the BK7 came up for me, so that was my Becker cherry. Then I started searching more and more and found this place and well... everyone knows what happens once you're here...

I was posting over at Bushcraft USA and this one user "Slayer of bunnies" kept posting about Becker Knives and showing his excaliber photo of his BK2 sticking out of this stump. Of course when I was young and broke I'd heard of the becker knives and thought they looked real bad ass, never did get one. So, because of this guy slayer of bunnies I thought I'd check out Becker knife and Tool. Slayer of bunnies = Gingivitis Kahn

I've always been in search of "The One". The one knife that you can count on to do anything you need and be reliable. But then, for me it had to be AFFORDABLE. There was really only one choice at that point.

I never really liked the stock look, which is probably why it took me so long. But doing some searching once I really got back into survival/bushcraft, the BK2 kept coming up. I heard Dave Canterbury call it "The Becker Train-Wrecker". I am also someone who likes to tinker and modify things, so Beckers are good for that.

Google searching the topic led me here. And here I am.

At least with Beckers they start simple so you can get your foot in the door and buy the darn thing, unlike the next one up ESEE, that are already pimped out and harder to afford. I recently took stock of my stuff, and the only knife I own NOT made by Ka-Bar is a Benchmade Griptilian. I WILL eventually own a BHK PLSK-1, but thats about the only other one I think. Not surprising...when I was at the pathfinder school, the majority of the knives there were Beckers/Kabars, and Blind Horses.

The only thing I would like to see happen is more customizable options to buy, like ESEE has. Different scales, different carry options, etc.

Bladeforums. Specifically the W&SS subforum.

Bought a Ka-Bar and it snapped in half within 3 minutes. Wanted to find out if it was a freak occurrence or a bad company. Found the forum and learned that it was a freak event. Decided to give the Becker series a try and bought the 2. It is my only Becker but I will buy more. (one day when I have cash)

Yeah - that SOB is a jerk. :D

I think I first learned about Beckers here on BF. Saw a pic of a BK2 I think and read some good stuff and that was that for me. The handle just looked so danged comfortable - turns out it is.

For me it went like this:

1. Wife and friend went on a dayhike in a place that can have sudden weather, got lost for a few hours, got safe.
2. Wife tells me about this then makes a snarky comment about how her friend tends to overpack for dayhikes, with things like flashlights, rain gear, etc.
3. I realize that Wife is dumb to criticize a friend for packing some safety/survival gear in the same sentence where Wife is telling me about getting lost on a hike. I decide that I need to pack dumb Wife some safety/survival gear so that dumb Wife makes it home to me the next time she gets lost.
4. I start researching and purchasing safety/survival gear. Major rabbit hole. Weeks dissappear. SO FUN.
5. Eventually I get on the subject of 'survival' knives. More weeks disappear. Look at lots of sites. Brain temporarily enters mall ninja/'Basement Tactical' zone.
6. A post on BladeForums makes some really good points about how easy it is to get distracted by the admittedly cool 'survival' toys and forget that you increase your chances of return via the soft skills; preparedness, awareness, and wilderness abilities. I stand down from mall ninjary and start thinking more.
7. I realize I'm on a forum full of awesome knife stuff and I'm an avid hiker/camper/outdoorsman who's always had utterly shit gear, and would be much better off getting some good knives for the stuff I do all the time.
8. I obsess on Busses for a while. Then customs. Tantos of all stripes. Stripes of all tantos. Cold Steel*. Kershaw. Spiderco. Then I see a BK2 for the first time.
9. I start reading up on the BK2, realize its list of features and strengths mesh perfectly with what I need, and slam an order through CRKS: "We ship the next day!"
10. Three weeks pass. I barely make it, but my knife finally shows up.

* I do still like Cold Steel, own an old Voyager folder (tanto blade, heh), want a Recon Tanto bad because it was in CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, been cleaning up a Trail Hawk, and still might pick up an AK-47 for rough work duties.

I received the 11 as a gift from OREGON FAL'er because I needed a good fixed blade knife for my woods adventures, and then he also told me about the forums. I lurked around here for a while so see what it was like, and decided y'all were cool dudes :D
