2 x 72" Grinder Build

BJansen, I really like the flush (or below) Allen screws you used on your grinder and I am wondering where you found a drill with a pilot to counter sink the screw heads and what is the drill called? Is it a step drill? Thank, Larry

Mostly what I see he used the tapered screw heads

They are called Hex socket flat head countersink head screws

They use a countersink cutter to make the cut

You match the angle of the cut to the angle on the screw head 82 degrees is most common

You can just buy one, not a set

Precisely. And the only countersink I used was a larger drill bit. Thanks!

Unless you reground the twist drill to 82°, you are likely going to have issues with things coming loose. There's a 36° difference between standard twist drills and standard flat head cap screws.

Thank you very much . . . I did find something called an "ELEVATOR BOLT" that I think will be perfect for this . . .

I just superglue a piece to a 1/2" bolt. You can use any size you want, and a dowel rod would work as well.

82* single flute counter sinks made my Keo are super nice and not that expensive. You can use them to chamfer the edge of any drilled hole prior to tapping or just to her a cleaner look.

Re: I take it that is not the preferred Master Machinist Method . . . . lol lol lol

Ha ha....I certainly presume it is not!
