Around what time of year do the Walmart Buck 110's go on sale for 20$? I'd like to pick up 2 or so.

Usually right at Xmas. That's the only time I've seen them that cheap.

Currently, Dick's Sporting Goods have them for $30.00 plus a $10.00 rebate from Buck. That equals $20.00. :)

Lol, the knife prices you guys get in the states makes me sick... in the UK, a buck 110 is usually about 50quid, give or take a fiver (= about 90US$). So I cunningly got my mum to get me a 110 from walmart when she was in the states last, cost me 17.50gbp, much less than I'd be looking at if I bought it in England. In fact, from now on every time I hear someone I know's going to the states I think I'll try to see if they can pick me something up. Have pity on us English lads - send knife aid over the pond!

...LOL..."Right at Xmas" means two weeks before Holloween until 30 January... :D

Lowest they got here was $23.95 at Wally World...Those prices started about 15-20 November...But only for the sardine can 110's...the yellow-box 110's were still $29.95...(leather sheath versus Nylon)...

We'll have to start another "Cheap Buck 110s" thread this year... :)

In WI they never got that cheap :(

BUT they were still cheaper than the leather sheath, standard model 110.

I havent even noticed them in the stores this year yet...

Someone jog my memory, but I think the Academy stores in Texas were having a sale before Christmas last year with bubble pack 110's with Idaho stamp and black leather sheath for $18 and change. Several of us took that flyer to Walmart and got a price match for the 110 in the yellow box with black codura sheath. I'd be surprized to see that price again.

$18.61 I believe... would have to dig out the receipt. Leather sheaths. And in Clampacks. I liked that because I got to go through the racks and pick out the best looking wood grain.

Sorry, this adds nothing to the thread, but I can't resist bragging. Last year in wandered into a Walmart on the morning they put the commemorative tin 110's on clearance, and I bought 11 of them for $8 apiece. How's that for a score?

To be fair, you should wait until the WM employees wake up in the morning...:D

I bought 12 of those tins from 23.44 down to 15.00 each.....kept seeing them go down and kept buying more......all are great knives!

How does Buck do it? How can a 110 ($59.00 MSRP) sell for 20 bucks? This is a precision made knife with good materials, perfect blade and edge geometry, fantastic fit and finish, and it locks up like a safe. Now, add up material cost, US labor cost, packaging cost, distribution cost, other overhead cost (building, equipment, & tooling upgrades), and sell it wholesale to dealers. How do they make money on this model? Unbelievable!

I doubt they make much money on it, but Walmart cuts out ALL the middle men and they order THOUSANDS of them at once....I went to about six different Walmarts last holiday season and they all had big displays of the tins boxes....1,400 walmarts....60 - 100 pcs each...that is alot of tins !!!!

that it was storage cost loss get them gone as new stock was comeing in and there is NO extra room for storage at the store and that at clearance time all things are checked by date of placed on shelves and if still there price slashed...
Yes employes on duity get first shot and have a small emloyee discount also:thumbdn: ...
when there is a lot of sporting stuff left on clearence is were fewer guys work in that dept as a rule...

hint they gave me: sence none of you live close to me  is to call and ask when spring and summer clearnce dates will be! there are diffrent for many of the departments...

Many retailors do a similar method of pricing, in that, the new items are priced highest and the last few remaining after some set point in time are marked down to cost or less. I would assume that Walmart made money on these knives all the way down to the the $14-15 dollar mark, but lost money below that. I manage Retail Real Estate for a living now, and I have spoke to the real estate people at Walmart and I always question their priceing and have heard similar stories from them that many items are sold barely above costs after the supplier has been beat down to his cheapest price

That is correct. Academy broke the $20 barrier last year. Did the Wal-Mart price match so I could get cordura sheaths. I bought three or four at that price. Got to remember to send in one for BG-42 soon.

Yesterday, I went to fill out my $10 rebate coupon from Dick's and noticed that the sales receipt has to be dated between Oct. 15, 2006 - Dec.31, 2006. Anyway, long story short - since I purchased my knife on Oct. 10th, in order to take advantage of the rebate, I have to return my knife to Dick's after Oct. 15th and then repurchase it.

Dang, I just caught this. I didn't go the tin route because of the sheaths, but man, that is one great score!!! I would have done the same thing.

The ones for sale at our Wal Mart here are not the new ones with the new edge technology on the blade. You can see right away they are not near as sharp as the new ones being sold at KMart. I got mine at Kmart in the clear vacuum pack. The ones at wally world in the yellow box were obviously old stock.
