20$ Buck 110's

How does Buck do it? How can a 110 ($59.00 MSRP) sell for 20 bucks? This is a precision made knife with good materials, perfect blade and edge geometry, fantastic fit and finish, and it locks up like a safe. Now, add up material cost, US labor cost, packaging cost, distribution cost, other overhead cost (building, equipment, & tooling upgrades), and sell it wholesale to dealers. How do they make money on this model? Unbelievable!

I don't think Buck has much to do with the prices offered by the big box stores. Retailers like Wal*Mart frequently sell specific items for less than paid for them (like a $20 Buck 110) in order to get you into the store. It's called a "loss leader," and the intent is to get your body on the premises so you buy other stuff (on which they'll make a profit) which will then offset the loss on the item that drew your attention.

People (like some of us) sometimes defeat the system by only buying the stuff on sale, but they're a minority.

Any sign of the $20 110 at Wallyworld or Dick's?

I am getting to Best Buy at 5am to get a big screen TV tomorrow morning and I will probably hit wallyworld and Dick's while I am out. It will be my birthday, so I need to spend lots of money.

There are NONE on Long Island !!!!! I went to four NJ Walmarts yesterday but NONE there either !!!!! (This is Walmart Tins I am talking about)...Dicks at Roosevelt Field had Buck 110s on a 29.99 sale with a ten dollar rebate last week........

I hate to admit it, but you guys have almost got me convinced to actually go to WallyWorld tomorrow... day after Thanksgiving... I shudder to think of the mob scene there, but I'd love a new 110 just because.....

Academy has the Buck 110 blister pack with a leather sheath on sale today for $19.63. No rebates needed. I bought a couple for presents. They have the Edge2x 420HC blades.

They also had a 53" aluminum rifle case for $24.74. Regularly $50. Comes in brushed aluminum or Mossy Oak finishes.

I actually snaged the holiday tins for $7.50 each in late february. They had seven. It just did not seem right to hord them so I only purchased six.

Guess I should mention I only had enough BUCKS to buy the six!

Hey its true. The to buy in the UK price for a Buck 110 standard (not special steel just what you would call a walmart special) is roughly £75UKP. Which equates to about $140USD (rough guess may be a few dollars out)

So if one of you nice guys wanna get a Walmart 110 or 112 and mail me the cost for shipping I would be more than glad to pay for one :) trust me

Ok just checked and found some Cheaper prices but they are disgusting compared to what you guys pay

Buck 112FG £60+shipping
Buck 110STD £53+shipping

  ...Sheeesh...Yahoo's currency converter shows
110 STD at $102.45
112 FG at $115.97
Both PLUS shipping... :jerkit:

Yep and thats buying online. You find a local knife shop that will have them or buy them in then expect to pay another $40 more so a standard 110 will cost you $140 ish plus shipping.

Cost to buy them in Walmart 18.00 - USPS to ship to the UK is £7.00 so £25 and I can buy a 110 from the US. I could buy three for the same price as one in the UK... not exactly fair is it?

rather have cheaper knives TBH

now i have a question ...
what are the laws concerning some one here selling to you or
better yet TRADEING AND EXCHANGEING knives?
could we swap with you for something and would we/ or rather you -
still have issues with immport export laws and tax's?
only a academatiec question because of ebay...
many wont sell acrossthe pond...

Well.. its easy. There would be no Tax at all and no problems at all if you marked the box as "gift"

I have bought a lot of knives from Ebay and I only had to pay import tax on one so far and that was not marked with a gift.

Just pains me that you can get a 110 for next to nothing and cos I am in the UK I have to pay a premium. F****** unfair if you ask me.

Have some Cheese and Onion Pie with your whine Maverick!!!
Think about all you have over there...I'm trying...but drawing a blank...oh...you get to drive on the wrong side of the road. And you have a tunnel that takes you straight to France

Do you know how much we have to spend to get some decent Haggis or Toad In The Hole over here?

Hey, and what about that tea you guys were taxing us for????

:)

Thats pretty much the same story here on anything imported also -(except china) I cannot think of anything off hand but if it is imported it will cost us a heck of alot more here (USA)! You could always move here too! :D
Save lots of money on Buck Knives then!!!!
