Hey, I wanted to see what you guys could come up with! We all run into that moment in time when a new knife would be fun to have but we are out of cash. What knife or knives would you recommend that come in around the 20 dollar price range and why?

The CRKT Gerry McGinnis-designed Tuition is some of the best $20 I've ever spent.

Victorinox Cadet - Great dress knife and gift blade
Opinel 6 - Inexpensive carbon steel goodness. Excellent slicer.

Another vote for Svord peasant.

Mora 511

Buck Vantage Select

More in the $25 range, but the Buck 300 series folders are no frills, well made knives.

I also agree on the Kershaw Crown.
I even have a Gerber Paraframe 1 that doesnt suck.
I grabbed it to abuse, and I've done so.
Batoned, thrown, stabbed, dropped, chopped, and with no care. Meaning that i wasnt throwing, or batoning lightly.
Minimal play, and still somewhat sharp. (definitely not razor sharp for sure)
Surprising

I am very impressed with the Enlan 02-b. The blade geometry is sweet and it has a super locking mechanism. The G-10 scales look like carbon fiber. I am pretty fickle when it comes to fit and finish and this did very well in all areas except one. I had to tighten the pivot screw up a little tight to prevent the slightest of side to side blade play. I hate blade play. At this tighter setting it still opens with a little flick but there is zero blade play in any direction. It is made and sold from offshore but only took a week to get to me here in the U.S. I used a well known auction site for this purchase and it was only 75% of your budget including shipping! I have a decent knife collection from offshore and U.S. made companies and this one is definately a keeper. YMMV.
