Kershaw crown is a good knife and is only around $13.

+1 to that.

Smooth opening, solid lock, little to no blade play when open, and a great factory edge.

And it just looks fancy :) stainless/black micarta is a great handle combo.

The Boker Krein Pocket Bowie & the Boker Gents Scalpel are both great knives for the price point - 440C blade and G-10 scales for under $25 bucks

I bought a Crown from WalMart for $14.97 as I was cruising through the sporting goods section. After I got it home I decided I didn't like it and gave it to my grandson. Right after that I bought a Chill, which I'm much happier with. The Crown was just too old school for me, no assist, no flipper. Hard to beat the price, but my Chill was only $3 more.

There are also a bunch of Rough Rider slipjoints for under $15, many under $10. In most if not all the reviews they say they have fit, finish and action comparable to Case. They've got 440A stainless but I guess you have to live with that for the price (and keep in mind Case's stainless blades use "surgical steel").

I have seen these knives before, they look much more expensive then they actually are.

Mora 711 ... more knife is not needed at EDC tasks. The sheath is not the best, but the knife is great. Carbonsteel blade, synthetic grippy handle. I own a couple. One of them is permanently used on the building lot and its not taken much care about it. It´s a real working horse. The prize is hot; roundabout 11 $ or 9 € is great.

I made the haft of that Frontier Hawk within about ten minutes outside in the woods :)

Kind regards
that's a haft i would like to heft. nice job.

I don't own any atm but I hear Old Hickory knives are great for the price and make decent field knives and most can be had for under $20.

For fixed blades I like Mora. For folders I like the Doziers from KA-BAR and SAKs.

The Wal-Mart Ripple. Belongs here, and in a parallel thread about knives that surprised you.

I think the Cold Steel pocket bushman is one underrated knife and is rugged as hell.
