Re chokes: Most of the SD type shotguns are cylinder bore, a straight through tube. The SD shotguns are also usually 18 (minimum legal length for a shotgun) to 22 inches. My Mossberg 'Defender' is 20 inches with full length mag tube. It will hold a max of eight 2/34 shells---one in the chamber, seven in the mag. I usually carry it with six in the mag only.
As for buying 300 rounds of nr 4 buckshot. No, I don't rob banks. However, on duty with the sheriff's dept, I have had to kill feral dogs and also put mangled dogs and cats along the roadways out of their misery. A shotgun is safer for that with a lessened chance of ricochets. I've even had to put down a couple of horses that strayed onto the roads and were creamed by vehicles. I'm considered to be an old 'hard ass' but it tears me up to come upon innocent animals hit by motor vehicles, sometimes intentionally. I laughed my ass off responding to one accident wherein the idiot drove onto the shoulder to hit a dog and rolled his pickup into the ditch. Too bad he survived. BTW, a blast of nr 4 buck in the ear or back of the head at close range kills a horse instantly, a blessing when one is laying there screaming with a broken back and its guts all over the highway.
