20 gauge shotgun with pistol grip.

Re chokes: Most of the SD type shotguns are cylinder bore, a straight through tube. The SD shotguns are also usually 18 (minimum legal length for a shotgun) to 22 inches. My Mossberg 'Defender' is 20 inches with full length mag tube. It will hold a max of eight 2/34 shells---one in the chamber, seven in the mag. I usually carry it with six in the mag only.

As for buying 300 rounds of nr 4 buckshot. No, I don't rob banks. However, on duty with the sheriff's dept, I have had to kill feral dogs and also put mangled dogs and cats along the roadways out of their misery. A shotgun is safer for that with a lessened chance of ricochets. I've even had to put down a couple of horses that strayed onto the roads and were creamed by vehicles. I'm considered to be an old 'hard ass' but it tears me up to come upon innocent animals hit by motor vehicles, sometimes intentionally. I laughed my ass off responding to one accident wherein the idiot drove onto the shoulder to hit a dog and rolled his pickup into the ditch. Too bad he survived. BTW, a blast of nr 4 buck in the ear or back of the head at close range kills a horse instantly, a blessing when one is laying there screaming with a broken back and its guts all over the highway.

It seems everybody has read something on the net or in magazines that #4 buck is the ammo of choice for home defense. Can't find any in stock anywhere. I'll try the range pro shop next, but the word is out.

Amazing how the people in this country reacted to the specter of their gun rights being infringed by going out and buying all the guns and ammo they could. And I think the politicians have taken notice because I haven't herd a peep about gun bans and the like in awhile. If folks are gonna spend this kind of money on guns and ammo, they should drop $25 and join the NRA as well.

while imho 4 buck isnt bad i dont know about i being the popular choice for HD or SD, most stuff i have seen points to 00, i work out with several LEO's, PD and deputy sheriffs, they all use 00 in their shotguns, well the ones who still carry shotguns anyway, half have gone to M4's in the last couple of yrs,

Well, if I was a LEO I would use 00 as well. I don't think my concerns regarding over penetration and hitting my neighbors applies to them. They want stopping power, can't say as I blame them. So do I but without the overkill.

By the way, I have a box of 00 anyway, and keep one shell in the SpeedFeed stock, ummm, just in case.
