2007 Blade Show Cutting Competition- Why no Busse?

Wish I had your talent!!!

Thought you guys might like to see this one, though it DEFINATELY does not fit into the knife category:D. This is my current project, double edge, 1084, diamond cross section. 29 1/4 inch blade, 38 inches overall.

Looks like crap now but give me a few weeks.

Nobody would take one out of the SAFE?

actually, you must be speaking of a TRASH CAN being a safe because I have pulled mine out of a trash can that it went through when I threw it at the trash can. When I opened the top of the "SAFE", I saw a bunch of United knives in there and left them for trash pickup.:D

well I'll be buggered.

This is the first time I've sat and read all this.

Busse rocks, I have a FBM, which chops like crazy, and I've cut big beef rump steaks from a primal with it, yesterday I put a sandpaper edge on it, as the convex didn't seem to work to well for me, and sliced tomato easily for lunch.

My Active duty is a beautiful knife and I reprofiled that edge on a diamond stone before hitting it on the sandpaper again. nice and sharp.

pics please??

ok

oh and bearcut, I hope this last one doesn't get me in trouble but here goes....

I can't help but include what I haven't read so far. I can't recall a manufacturer entering one of their own models to be used by a sponsored cutter. It appears to me these events are for makers to enter with their own specialty blade of their preferred steel, a good state of affairs. Am I missing something here? Manufacurers declare ahead of time if they intend to reproduce a sponsored blade, not the reverse.

The link posted also states tactical or paramilitary knives cannot be advertised or promoted. That seems to exclude just about all of the stuff made from Infi, and I doubt a GW would get very far:D. It appears the OP didn't read the whole thing before trying to use it to make a pointless point.

As usual, the facts get in the way when one attempts to malign a reputable USA manufacturer. Save it for importers of junk knockoffs who deserve it. Sheesh.:) Regards, ss.

the only company i have read about that has a blade used in competition is spyderco.

pretty sure the knife was made to the cutter's specs and is in no way a previously produced model. though i think i also read they are going to mass produce it in the future.

I got a response yesterday regarding which knives can be used in BladeSports competitions, which is appropriate to the question starting this thread:

The only knives that can be used are knives made by certified cutter members
of BladeSports International.
The Only production companies that can produce a knife for competition in
BSI events are those companies who are Sponsors of BladeSports. This knife
must be an approved design by a certified maker cutter of BladeSports .
There are no production knives on the market at this time, however Spyderco &
benchmade are working on a competition cutter as we speak. Browning has a
knife in production but this knife has never been certified by BladeSports
for competition as yet. Case also has been working on a knife for John
Fitch. I dont know the status of this knife.
The knifemaker members should be on the web site , but I can give you a few
to review.
Myself, Gayle Bradley. Ted Ott, John Fitch, Jim Crowell, Reggie Barker, Ed
Schempp, Donavan Phillips, & Dan Winkler .

I hope this helps
