2007 Fisk Micro Show - Preview

I will try to post the latest of my Fisk Micro Show knives that are complete.

Number 5 is an interpretation of a Bill Moran knife, the ST-24. I want to thank Jim Treacy for his help with photos of an original. This knife gives me a new appreciation for the things considered while making a knife. It helps me know what Mr Moran might have been thinking with this design. It's light and quick and feels great to the hand. the blade is 10 inches of 5160. The handle is Curly Maple with pure Silver wire.

Number 6 is a very small Personal Carry with a 3 1/8 inch blade of 1084 and L-6. The fittings are Bronze and the handle wood is African Blackwood. The OAL is about 7 inches.

I want to thank Kevin for helping me with some of the posts. I will be working on a couple more knives as the time gets down to the wire. Also I thank Chuck Ward for his fine photography skills.
Thanks, Lin
OH, Man!!!!! I love all of those knives, but that ST24 is just fabulous!!!!!
:thumbup::D

This is one my signature pieces. The Sendero. This one has a Dog Star pattern damascus blade with stainless mountings and a Sambar Stag handle. Engraving of leaf looking things or things wanting to look like leaves on the guard and flower petals on the pins. The steels in this blade is L6 and 1084 and double tempered. If you do want to carry it to the field you will be pleased with it.

Well now, this is different is it not? This is an intergal that I was playing with and wanted to finish it up for the show. Blade from handle measures approx
6 1/2 inches Sheep horn handle, stainless pins and ferrule. In case you were sitting there and thinking, yes, you are right, it was a bugger to forge. 5160 steel. I forge all of my pieces within 95% of shape. On this one, I forged from the tang area and got it and the guard done before I forged the blade, which is reverse of what I normally do. Field grade piece that is unusal and something you would be proud to whup out at deer camp and holler, Hey, Y'all, Look at this.

This is an out of the ordinary piece for me. I am through other than engraving the pins tomorrow. Fossil male Walrus ivory handle, Quad twist guard, twist back bolster and damascus frame. All mountings are 44 layers. The blade is 44 layers left hand next to 44 of right hand with 344 of wolf tooth on the bottom. 24kt gold inlay in the guard and back bolster. NLT marked #7 for 2007

See Jerry making this beauty step by step:

Great work, Lin. A nice variety and all very well done. I always hope to see some inlay in your work so please keep at it.

Jerry, I'm thinking long and hard and that Persian is probably my favorite from you so far. A nice long damascus blade with an outstanding handle shape and guard. Kevin's stag bowie is nipping at it's heels.

Thanks guys. I'm still working to get a couple more ready, but we'll have to see. Here is one I just finished and Chuck photoed for me. This is number 8 for Jerry's show. Thanks, Lin

Gamemaster Hunter with mammoth ivory and frame handle with stainless mountings. Left and Right hand twist on the blade with wolf tooth pattern on the bottom.
This has delicate style engraving on it, the most gold I have put on one yet and I think the gold is at a max, my opinion and this is the nicest Gamemaster I have made to date.

This beautiful piece will go to the buyer with the '07 Spirit of Steel Show "Best Fixed Blade" & "Best of Show" titles.
This piece is only the second FISK hunter to be designated as an NLT.

I believe I know one individual who will be after this one. ;) :D

This is my personal bowie for 2007. It is a Southwest style bowie. The spine has a crown on it so that it will but to the max in deep cuts. Stainless guard and pins, tiger stripe maple with a black canvas ferrule behind the guard. I used this bowie in various camp chores and used it to set up two cutting competitions including the worlds finals. This is a cutter. W2 steel. On the face of the guard is engraved, Jerry Fisk, My Personal Knife, 2007

Jerry, this is one serious cutter.
IMO. one can't look at this piece without wanting to chop wood.

It's pretty rare to see a knife that "plain" from Mr. Fisk these days and I must say that I really like the profile of that big boy! Of course, very few folks other than the maker would ever DREAM of actually using one of his knives these days, no matter how suitable they may be and like Kevin said, this one is just begging to be taken out into the woods and allowed to whack something:D

I agree, and was thinking that it would be interesting to pull out a "Fisk" around the campsite and actually start using it....wouldn't that generate some talk, especially if the folks new what Jerry's knives sell for. I may have to give this one some thought.....a user Fisk...hmmmmm.

One of the "Perks" of going to Jerry's show is doing a little cutting with Jerry's personnel chopper.
Here's the one we used to do some rope cutting demonstrations last year.
Hope this tradition continues this year even though Jerry's cutter is for sale this time.

This one was a chopper and a half.:thumbup:

I have an idea we'll get to do some cuttin. I'm bringin one Camp Cutter that I am borrowing from our own Mr Kerwin. We get to put scratches on it. I guess its only right to let him go first. I'll bring some 2 X 4's. Who's bringing the rope?
Lin

Kevin, I had no idea what all took place at Jerry's show. I think its great to hear that we'll be using some of these fine customs and put them through the ropes....pun intended. I've been reluctant to do that with my own.

Lin, I may bring the Sheephorn Bowie to see what she can do....that is, if you'll make her look pretty again when we're done.

I could sure use a few lessons from some experts.
