I will assist ea42 any way he wants me to. It might be easier for one of us to collect the funds and the other to order and mail the knives.

Let's stick with Canal Street since he (ea42) lives close and since they (CS) did such a great job for us on the 2006 ring knives.

So what pattern should we go for in 2007?

I am leaning towards a Dr. knife or a whittler or a stockman or a trapper or a ? :D.

This year I would like us to think about sending #1 to jackknife as our gift (as we did with Spark last year.)

If you have no intention please do not vote. If you don't have patience do not order or at least do not hassle the person doing this for us.

No matter what pattern we choose, I am in for 2 at least. (My dad is gonna want one ;))

Definitely a 3 blade this year!! A nice big premium stockman please! I love my little ring knife, but a larger one will balance the collection!! Oh yeah, with a punch blade!! Let's give CSC a challenge!!
Something like these!

Or these!!

well i have a small canal street stockman ,muskrat and ringer

personaly i would like to do another ringer with mammoth scales-

second choice would be a muskrat

Whittler for me, definitely a whittler.

A mutated canoe would be nice too, something like those 3 bladed canoe/whittler/stockman combinations some folks have posted about would be interesting.

I think I will join Chris and vote Whittler (with a true split back).

I would like to get in on this knife this time around if it's something larger. (and if I am allowed to, being relatively new here)

Large stockman w/ punch - I like, but not as much as I would like to see a 4" Long Canoe, or Canittler variation of a Canoe

I have a few whittlers and don't care for them much - I have large hands. My grandaddy whittled all the time w/ a large stockman or a Case 06247 pen.

I can't belive we are starting this all over again, but I think it is a great idea. My choices are:

Congress
Stockman
Trapper

I would like stag and I think we shouldn't pussy foot around, lets get all three patterns or maybe even four (4) patterns. (Maybe the Wildcat Driller.) I know it will be expensive, it will keep out the ones that aren't serious. I mean if we can get a deal like Bastid (Gus) did, lets fill out our Canal Street Cuterly collection. And have it a "Limited Edition" at that. Just my .02's worth.

looking at the patterns they already make i like

1. two blade gunstock trapper
2. the 3 1/2" whittler

i would be most happy with a Doctor knife though :)

we should also stick with stag, a carbon steel

i would suggest a more subtle/smaller marking for the "2007 forum knife"...this years was a bit big

Medium or Large Trapper
Medium or Large Stockman
Medium or larger whittler.

I would like to see the Blades in either 1095, D2, or ATS-34
By the way, if you will allow me, I'm in!

Tim

I'd like to jump on the wagon this year...

- 3-blade Med Serpentine Stockman - something that's just the right size for pocket carry

- That 3.5" CSC Whittler would be awesome as well.

Handle material: Nice Honey Bone or Old-style Case Red bone (the dark blood color). Both of those bone options in peachseed jig.

Will this be carbon steel or stainless?

Okay, I'm thinking this year I can do it.

Stockman with punch (I still don't have one of these.)
Trapper
Canoe

All in a medium or large size.

Doc knives don't blip on my radar.

I'm also quite in favor of Jackknife getting #1!

If its to be a new pattern, I'd like to see an old school scout/utility like the Remington R3333 pattern with a heavy master blade, punch, and real can opener design like the ones made 60 years ago. A bail, chain and belt loop of course too.

I wonder what it would take to get a blade forum shield?

As for using an existing pattern to build a knife, a 4 blade punch stockman on a 4 1/4" frame (or larger if possible) would be neat. Or maybe a hobo trapper?

I like the idea of a whittler or a gunstock jack. I also like the suggestion that we ask about the new CSC patterns for 2007.
One quick suggestion - how about setting a deadline (2 weeks before placing final order) for putting your money where your mouth is. Not foolproof, but it may make it easier on the guy collecting the dough.

How about a gunboat pattern, or large stockman, something nice a big.

Wow, popular thread! the scale materials I've seen them use in the past are:
buffalo horn (black), giraffe bone, stag of course, MOP, rams horn (although this is better suited for a larger knife, like a fixed blade or swing guard in order to best show the horn texture), red stag and blue stag, and black or maroon micarta. I'll try to get in touch with them to see what else they have available, shields, etc along with what's coming out. I know they do custom work so a punch bladed stockman or some other custom work would not be out of their realm (although price might be a consideration). I've actually seen a beautiful stag clasp knife that they did when they first started out, big and beautiful, but apparently didn't go into production, although I'm sure they still have the specs :) .As far as my vote, I can't decide on a preference, they're all fine with me.

Count me in this time. My first choice would be the medium 3 blade serpentine stockman. Second choice is a muskrat, maybe a Hawbacker if it's something they can do. 1095, D2 or Ats-34 with stag would be awesome. #1 as a gift to Jackknife is wonderful idea.
