2007 Forum Knife Pattern Vote

My votes, in order of preference would be:

4" or longer stockman or punchblade stockman
Equal end cattle knife
Canittler or gunboat
Whittler

I know we threshed this out last time, but I would vote for stag or jigged bone (rogers bone anyone?) over bonestag, and I'd like to stay away from the standard 420 steel. The A2 in our ring knives seems awesome. 1095, D2, ATS-34 any of those would be great.

Edited: I'm in on the gift to Jackknife as well. I'm also for ponying up some handling fees for our volunteer(s) to make sure they don't take a loss on this, other than the time they donate.

I am in once again.

I am glad this is getting off the ground so quickly and with such a popular response as well.

Choices in my desired order:

(1) Doc Knife 2 blade with Spear master and Spatula.

(2) Medium Stockman 3 blade with punch.

(3) Whittler(true) 3 blade with split back-spring.

I would like to see Canal Street build these as well and the A-2 steel again, as it is of fine quality on the ring knife.
Howz about sheephorn scales this time around?

I am also very pleased that Bastid brought up adding the extra knife to go to jacknife as it was on my mind as well. A small token of our appreciation to him for all the wonderful contributions he has made in this neck of the woods.

Thanks,
Tony

I want to play too.

My choices in preferred order:
1) Moose
2) Medium Stockman with punch (to replace spey blade)

I would prefer nicely grained wood scales.
Nothing like the deep colours and natural grain pattern in a high quality wood.

Giving a knife to jackknife is one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time.

I'm in.

In order of preference:

Steel
D2 (because I don't have anything in D2)
1095
A2

Model
Warncliffe whittler or Canittler
Stockman or cattleman (ie with or without punch)
Scout type. But I'm convinced that Victorinox's can opener is the best one on a pocket knife.

Scales
Stag
jigged bone
stagbone

Size: 4" or thereabouts is good. I have large hands.

Whatever we go for, it must be a slipjoint, edge less than 3", or I can't edc it. :(

edit: & I'm in for a bit towards Jacknife's.

I am glad that this is off and running again. I enjoy the organized bickering amoung intellegent knife enthusiasts. I was surprised at the job that was done with the ring knife so Canal Street is a good choice for me and a whittler or doctor would be great. I would like to stick with stag. Also is there a chance that we could get the same number as last year. I know it would be more work but it is just a thought.

1. Two blade Doc knife
2. Two blade Gunstock Trapper
3. Whittler

Sexsay scales. :D

Oh yeah, have to vote for A2. I'd like to see a Rem Bullet style, a two blade trapper with a clip point and a wharncliffe, or a Doctors patern. Wood scales also sound good to me. Meium sized.

I'd like to see a medium to large stockman or whittler. A punch is ok or not with me. Stag or bone is good along with BG-42 steel. Lets get a knife for edc.

The more I see of the Canittler I kinda like that.

FWIW, I have the "current" CSC Whittler in Dark Amber Bone/420HC, and it is a beautifully made splitback. Actually, I have one of each of most of the patterns in this series, and they're all nice. :)

lets start a poll with another thread and have all the options-
when its done we will have a better idea

That's what i was thinking.

Bastid should set a deadline for this thread. Once this thread is closed count up what was mentioned and put the top 6 in a poll thread with another deadline.

Great idea! We can keep this loose conversation going for a week. Then next Thursday or Friday tally what is here for the poll thread.
