2009 BladeForums Traditional Forum Knife updates

Every time this thread gets highlighted, I check back to see if there is an update. Teasers, you're a bunch of good for nothing slipjoint teasers. Praying upon the weakness of knife nuts.:D

As a somewhat seasoned veteran of this process I'll take a stab at a delivery prediction estimate..

I believe we are likely looking at around the calender new year as a target date for this knife give or take a month.. It may come sooner than later but we are talking Schatt & Morgan here.. So lets cut Gus a little slack in the meantime.. Can you imagine 'yourself' trying to send out 109 of these?. Lets let him rest up for the big event. :)

Thanks again Gus, you are a true Blessing!

Anthony

Still on target for a November delivery date, probably not much sooner.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Wow - looked at the calendar and it's November already! :D

The post man stopped by today, but all he had was a Rusty Preston doctor knife. . .

OK don't stop:o

Had some back and forth with the good folks at Queen this week.

They sent an e-mail of the wharncliffe blade design(this is a new one for them, configuration wise) and it is approved, they will be sending another sample next week for approval, the clip blade is basically die stamped, and the wharncliffe will be laser cut.

The bolster will be longer than originally thought by .16" due to the stamping, not exactly sure why, but it is what it is.

We are still on track for delivery in November, you all should have your knives WELL in time for the Holidays, even those folks in far away places.:)

Best Regards,

Awesome news Steve!

Just a personal note to everyone here;

If per chance the knives aren't ready in November, or even December (there are sooo many variables involved!), it'd be great if those folks who happen to grow impatient at the drop of a hat could refrain from pulling the old "Where's my knife? You said November!!" mantra on these guys. I'm speaking from experience with many club knives, and there are always a few folks who just can't keep from being miserable about the wait. It really makes a pleasurable experience go downhill quickly into a nightmare for the folks who are organizing the whole deal, and is absolutely unfair because it's completely out of their hands.
Maybe this time will be different and the knives will be done early, plus this is a MIGHTY folksy group, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway just in case.

One other consideration, there are a LOT of knives this year, and it takes time to pack 'em all, especially when the packers have day jobs they need to be at, so don't be surprised if it takes a few weeks for all of them to be mailed out. I've seen folks (not here;)) actually show surprise when they find out there isn't an actual crew working hours on end to get all the knives out at once!

Sure, no sweat. ;) Could you pack mine first?:D Truthfully, the waiting is the sweetest part. I often get sad when in my lean knife buying (right now) period, I think how nice it would be to have one incoming, and then I remember, I DO HAVE ONE INCOMING!!!! It has been a happy happy joy joy for me all year. I may have to deal with post pardum depression once I get it.:(:o OK, ship mine dead last.:p

It gives people something to look forward to. Pity I couldn't get on board as I'm 'foreign' non CONUS. Patience is a virtue, especially when the people organizing these forum knives are volunteers and have a lot of other thing to do.
