That mountain trout fishing looks like wonderful. Id like to do that someday. What do you trout men prefer , stream or a lake?

in the high country, I prefer a lake. down low about 3,000 or less ft. I like some nice rivers. I like to catch browns and brookies

Up here, the trout in the rivers are only 8-9 lbs. In the lake they average over 25lbs. Guess which one I prefer.....
Overall, though, I like fishing grayling in the river better than any of the trout. Fast action, lots and lots of fish... Triple headers are not uncommon. (unless there's only two people fishing... :) )

 I wanna get up there and catch some of those some day.

Here are a few of my catches from this summer at a local lake called Powder Creek. Didn't take a ton of pictures, but I did catch a few quality fish. Been trying to learn to fish for the cats this summer, been having some pretty good success. Here are the highlights of the summer:

Channel cat. The knife is 8 inches for scale

A surprise from the lake. This eye went just a smidge over 22 inches!

Nice fish. What part of Nebraska did you catch them at? I'm from North Platte...I've heard of Powder Creek, but forgot where its at...sweet walleye, really miss catching them.

First off this entire thread is making me extremely hungry! Awesome pictures of some great catches!

Wow Mick! Awesome scenery and awesome trout! That lake is beautiful. And yet another in the long list of reasons I want to visit Australia before I leave this world.

I forgot to put these up a couple of weeks ago. The rainbow measured 50 cm, the brown measured 56 cm. Both were caught after dark with a black wooly bugger.

Way up in the Northeast part of the state. Ponca, if you've ever heard of it. We're west of Sioux City about 30 miles.

An autopsy at cleaning revealed this trout was feeding on water daphne within the weed beds.
