The final vote was 69 Barlow 74 swayback.
There were some changes to the final vote.
See two notes in my visitor Messages which remove 2 from the swayback total and one was removed by a member in the thread.

Sub total 69 barlow 71 Swayback.

2 other members reversed their votes in the thread from Swayback to Barlow.
71 barlow 69 swayback.
Barlow wins it by a nose.

Now Steven and I will get with a few companies that would be interested in making a run for us and we will make a decision and then have a sign up list.

If you are willing to sign up at this point, let me know. All I am going to say now is that we are going to go with a natural material probably bone maybe stag or micarta.

Everyone's input has been very much appreciated, from here the companies will have a lot of input on handle material, blade steel etc. We may gather up the options and vote (all things else being about the same.) or just outright chose something if it clearly represents the best quality and value.

Once the final decision is made we will have an official sign up in hopes we can get the order in by mid June at the latest.

Sorry it took me so long to tally, been a rough week in a couple of ways, but things have worked out and I am ready to roll on this full speed ahead.
I have contacted a close friend here on BFC to act as backup just in case something should happen to me. He will have access to our funds and I will retain sole responsibility for them unless he has to take over and I do not see that happening. If he does have to take over, there will be no issues except for maybe a little cussing on his part over my grave for dumping the task on him. According to my will he would get a Bose out of the deal so he won't end up too upset. :D.

I would prefer a natural scale material and carbon steel in the blades but will go with whatever you and the makers arrange for.

I just want to give a Big Thanks to Steven, Gus and whoever else is involved in this project for being super troopers for putting up with everything to bring us this neat knife.

I would also like to see some stag and carbon blades. Seems that bone on barlows are too common.

God Bless

As usual great job guys, I'm in and I'll make sure of that on the official sign up list.

How about a fusion of old and new, micarta scales with an old pattern with a decent high carbon steel.

I'm up for anything, but I'd definitely prefer a natural handle material:thumbup:

LOL letting someone know they are getting a Bose in your will may not be the smartest move. I hope you make it through the week. :) Thanks for all the work you do for this forum and all of us here.

Thanks for all the work so far, Gus. I'm going to have to wait and see how it specs out before I commit. All the regular Barlows I've handled have been too short for me. Curse of having big hands, I guess.

A 3.5in. closed with sawcut bone handle and 1095 blades would be ideal. Would like to see a large clip blade and small pen blade with both nail pulls on the same side, long pull on the main blade preferable and no half stops. I don't have a clue who would make one to those specs. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Much thanks to Gus, Steve, and and anyone else, who are working to bring the 2009 project to completion.

That said, I would love to see an ATS-34 or 154cm blade steel in the 2009 barlow project. A steel that will stand up to working in all conditions.

According to my will he would get a Bose out of the deal so he won't end up too upset. :D.

You sure you can trust this person not to whack you just to get one o' them Bose's? :p

I'm happy with whatever is settled upon, but my general preference is carbon blades. Other than that, just having a BF knife in general will be special.

thx - cpr

I will wait to commit for final blade choices. I would like to see a clip blade with long pull and swedges, either a spear or spay in the same length as clip. Front or back placement on blades no choice preference to me... 3 3/8" to 3 7/16" would be fine, I think this is about standard for a Barlow pattern. Blade steel and scale cover I will go with the majority...

Thanks to all involved for their time and effort....

Count be in for one of these.

Like some of the others, I would prefer a natural material such as bone or stag, in preference to micarta.

Whatever, I'm good for one.

I'd love to see it in carbon steel with jigged bone handle scales. Something relaxing about wiping down the blades on my carbon steel knives. It's my favorite part of the day, even if I do occasionally knick myself.

I'm in and flexible on the scale material (bone, stag or micarta).

Barlow wins!!
Gus and Steve thanks for all your hard work and effort on our behalf:thumbup:

I am definitely in:)

(stainless or D2 with jigged micarta would be awesome)

As previously, I will assume responsibility to make sure that at least 1 Forum knife makes it to SE Asia. Count me in :D
