From what I understand, there's been 3 BF slip-joint knives now. Of the 3, the 1st & 3rd have been stag, is that correct? Also, I think all 3 runs have been at "around" 50 or so. Actually, I don't know the count on '06, but I believe '07 was 57 & '08 was 50 (Just barely). I'm not sure what the 1st 2 yrs cost per knife (Could anyone tell me, please), but the 3rd was a reasonable $89+shipping, although I understand not everyone was happy with their knife. All I can really say, was that I was happy with mine, but I guess my expectations weren't as high being that this was my 1st BF knife (Although I now have the '07, too).
So, what's my point? Nothing, really, except that 2 of the 3 yrs were stag (Again, if I'm wrong, please correct me) & 2 of the 3 yrs were D2 with the last yr being 1095. I guess D2's not a high carbon steel, but other than 1095, what else is available that's non-SS & not D2, that's used on a normal basis?
Anyways, although I wasn't for a Barlow & have one I'm perfectly happy with, I'm still in for whatever we get (The only disclaimer I can think of is if the blade steel was something really crappy, but I can't imagine that).
A quick thank you to everyone that's been & is involved.
