thats a purty one thar!.. noticed you said blacktail buck.. never seen one.

Last weeks fall turkey season harvest. Here in the fall hens, jakes, or toms doesn't matter they are all legal. I plan to make some wing bone calls from the hens.

Me and Dad - first time hunting together that we both got a bird. Usually I'm already tagged out and go help him get a bird or two.

Coastal Blacktail from California. Shot with a Remington model 700 mountain rifle, 270win loaded with 140 grain Barnes TSX bullets in front of 52.5 grains of Hodgdon's H100V powder. I had a window approximately the size of the deer's face to shoot through at 65 yards. I took it. It looks like it's midnight in the pic, but it was nearly 8 in the morning. It was raining like heck, but that's apparently what brings the bucks out.

Great story Barrabas. Congratulations to you two. The Eastern Shore is supposed to be an awesome place to hunt. I spent a day during early muzzle loader there a few years ago but I didn't see anything. My dad's buddy owns about 4000 acres and I'm gonna try to make arrangements to get out there either this year or next. There are some monster deer here in this state. A few years ago a guy in Charles County (that's west of the bay) got the largest deer ever taken on the eastern seaboard. A 28 point monster they called the King of The Marsh. The B&C score 268&1/8.

Doe taken in Rush County, IN.
Bow: Diamond Black Ice
Arrow: Carbon Express Maxima
Broadhead: Muzzy 125gr.
Yardage: 49yds...my farthest ever with a bow by "a long shot"

A little 9 pointer came by at 25yds this morning. He wasn't quite the one that I'm looking for (one buck rule in Indiana). I let him walk on by and the next thing you know he mixes it up with a couple of does out in the field beside me. I guess he wanted me to know the rut is on. I was hoping a big boy would come out to put him back in his place.

Rut pictures, that's funny our season isn't even open yet well muzzle loader at least. Muzzle loader opens this weekend, rifle the following weekend but our Deer won't RUT until January, usually about the middle to end of and sometimes really not until beginning of February.

Success on first day of firearm season this year. First "real" buck I've shot. Two years ago I shot a buck with one antler (two points) thinking it was a doe. Last year I shot only a doe, first deer I saw, and didn't see anything else after that. This was my lucky year, I guess.

One shot, 15-20 yds (I neglected to pace it off) with my Marlin .30-30, 170 grain remmington cor-lokt. Tough 2.5 yr old, he ran maybe 60 yds with a hole through his heart and two liquified lungs.

After getting this guy butchered, I will try to fill out my bonus tag with a nice doe.

Damn nice deer rocketbomb!!! Mount that bad boy. I euro mounted mine as it's free :)

Great looking game on here ! Looks like my next hunting trip will be ThanksGiving weekend....if I'm lucky

I'm definitely at least going to euro mount this thing. Dad thinks we should do a full on taxidermy mount, but I'm cheap and this isn't really a monster.

NICE buck Rocketbomb, regardless of his age. Mount that bad boy and be proud that is NICE deer right there.

Good luck on your doe, I hope you tag out.
