2010 BF knife

Got mine and it's prettty awesome, except there's a gap between spring and spacer for about half the length of the knife. I can fit the tissue paper it came wrapped in into it, but the gap does not extend all the way into the "blade bed". Still deciding if this is an issue for me or not.

wow thats awesome... definitely going to be looking forward to it next year

sean

I'm with you. I've been distracted by tacti-cool lately and coming back to the grass roots, I wish I had been in on this one. I won't miss the 2011 though. Very nice looking knife.:thumbup:

This knife may have been far more expensive than I originally thought. She Who Must Be Obeyed says it is strikingly beautiful. She has fallen in love with the scales and now says she wants Ebony flooring in the kitchen.
You guys must have done something right to get that kind of reaction from her.

Oh my.. I agree with you Mack, something has been done correctly... If you get ebony floor for her, remember to take a picture and post it Carl's Lounge: Cost of Forum Knife 2010.

Ebony is such beautiful wood, I can't wait to have mine.

Where are the pictures???? I know some of you guys are receiving the 2010 Blade Forum Knife on almost a daily basis yet nobody has posted pictures of them lately. LET'S SEE EM!!!!

I can see some light through 2 places on the clip blade pivot side between liner and springs. The spine has a place that I may buff out on one corner and a pin. The bar shield is a tad proud as is one bolster. The long pulls are a bit uneven, and not perfect. These minor imperfections to me, just about makes it perfect. :)

Before I joined Blade Forums, I would have never even known these to be issues existed. So, I minimize them in my mind, and enjoy the history of the making this knife, which is something I had a say in. To me, that is pretty cool, and makes this knife perfect. I am going to let it ride in my pocket today with it's factory edge. I will possibly strip some irrigation field wires with it.

Very very nice, I too wish I had been paying attention to this one.
If anyone has two or is interested in parting with theirs give me a shout.

cheers

The long pulls are a bit uneven, and not perfect.

If you mean by uneven the length of the pulls not being as long from one blade to the other, the reason is because the distance between the tang to the beginning of the swedge on the clip blade is shorter than the distance between the tang to the beginning of the swedge on the spear blade.

The only issues I had with my knife were scratches on the blades and on the spine of the knife. I solved those problems by buffing the scratches out with my buffing wheel.

Actually, my knife is the best recent manufactured Queen Cutlery knife that I have seen come out of Queen Cutlery for some time -- last year or so.

I think Queen Cutlery gave our Forum Knives a bit more attention to detail than they usually do for their regular line of knives.

We still need to see more pictures from you guys/gals receiving your 2010 Forum Knives!!!!

navihawk -- I'm pretty sure you owe us pictures of your knife.

I'll post pics when I get mine! I think Eric's saving coordinator knives for last wahh.

Ed,

The long pull area looks even, and I am not judging it from placement between tang and point, nor comparing from one blade to the other. The perimeter of the long pull's edge on the spine side has a bevel in it. This would be where you insert your thumb nail and exert pressure to pull open the blade. There is a bevel here and it is uneven, so when you look at it, it makes the pull look uneven. However, as I look at it again, with the knife closed it looks just fine. It must have just been the light.

I am extremely happy with this knife, It rides just fine in the back pocket, even though it is big knife.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm -- would that be light/lite beer or light from the outside/over-head??????:)

Glad you're happy with yours. I'm happy with mine.

I put my own edges on it last night and I'm getting ready to EDC it for a little while. I debated pretty hard whether or not to carry it, but I figure if I don't carry it and use it then no one will see it and ask about it. One of the main reasons I bought it was to use it as a means of sparking the interests of others so I pretty much have to carry it :D.

I had the same problem. It was actually the first time that I had a hard time convincing myself to carry a new knife. I sharpened it up and decided I would EDC it on my birthday last weekend as a present to myself. It's been in my pocket ever since and probably will be for quite a while.

SWMBO took this pic this afternoon. It must have a strong pull as she is unable to open the blades. Of course that ensures that I will be the first to try out this beauty.

Just look at that swedge!!! Where is the drooling idiot smiley when I need it?

Looking good Mack. Check out the tang stamps when you get home. That is just one of the reasons that it is a special knife.

Ed,

back about 8 yrs. ago, you could have called me out on that. I am actually quite thankful that I became sober before a blade forum poster. I could see myself getting out of hand the way I was back then.

I am enough of a goofball sober, I become a supreme ninja goofball when drunk. I was usually a happy drunk, but annoying to some. I taunted a bit.

I will have a glass of my dad's egg nog this christmas, it tends to clear the throat and warm the face and belly. I stop at one.

I really like the moose pattern. I have a bulldog, a Schatt, and the forum moose. I guess I could stand to thicken the pack, herd, flock, gaggle or pride of mooses. :D

The clip blade on mine was pretty brutal at first Mack. It was actually painful to open it. After oiling and starting to work it I realized the spring was raising a burr where it rubbed on the liner. The NS was soft enough that I could scrape it off with my thumbnail, so I kept at it until it stopped. Now it's much better than it was.

I hope that ebony floor doesn't take too big of a chunk out of your knife funds.:p

Mine came Friday and I love it!

I carved my initials in the back with a Dremel to personalize it, and have used it to pry open some paint cans and baton some firewood.

I'll post pictures once I get the clip blade waved and serrations cut into the spear blade.

OK - I didn't really do any of that.;)

I did touch up the blades a little bit though, and used it to cut some cellophane.

The pull is a little firmer than I prefer, but not enough to complain about. The fit and finish is absolutely perfect.
