2010 Fishing Season PIC Thread

Well, since we are talking smallies, here is my 7 year old son's smallie he caught last summer. 20 inches.

Then here is his 30 inch walleye, caught the same week as the smallie above. Both are on his wall! Dad didn't give him any help with either one, he is quite the fisherman.

Awesome fish! He's off to a good start and I just love seeing new fishermen to carry on the fun!

We have some good opportunities for them here in Illinois, both lakes and rivers. My Brother in laws
family owns a resort on Lake George in upstate NY, awesome smallie fishing there as well. They are
a very different fight than their bigmouth cousins for sure. If you ever find yourself in either place, drop
me a "line" :)

sounds good to me.. my lil bro lives in Buffalo, NY (getting his Dr degree in music)..I have only been there once and the first thing i saw was cold clear lakes and made me think of smallies... we have to go to the mountain lakes/ rivers here in NC to find them.. love those bronze backs. so aggressive compared to the slower and pickier bucket mouths down here in the souf. :D

Saturday's catch.

With the weather cooling off rapidly, I believe the fall spawn will be over soon. The Halibut taco's were the bomb!

Went out yesterday to the Mississippi river backwater. Started out throwing a Sassy Shad and only caught two little ones on it. Switched to a buzzbait and caught four nice ones. The biggest one , got off. Sorry for the crappy picture . I was in the plastic boat and using the camera timer . The boat is so short its difficult to fit everything inside the frame

Got to fish a little this afternoon. Didnt have time to take the boat out. I walked around my campsite and caught seven on a Wave Tiki Stick. Three this size and four dinks.

Yours truly with a barely legal striper from Montauk.
I was really fortunate that wifey got up with me at 4am to see the stars.
I hooked the fish on my 2nd cast before she got cold and ran back under the covers lol
:)

Quick trout question for everyone. There are three local lakes here in Long Island that had brown and rainbow trout stocked in them last weekend, and I went fishing one day last wekend and yesterday. I got a ton of panfish and a few bass, but NO trout! Now they were jumpimg, and swiming right in front of me but not biting anything. I tried wax worms ( always worked before), salmon eggs. small spinners, crickets, etc Anyone have any good suggestions? I know these fish are raised eating pellets in a growing ponds and they eat bugs that land on the surface. I have always got them in the past with wax worms and spinners....
