Thank you waynorth for your endeavors. I'm not a big slippie person by nature, but I kick myself every time I see yet another forum knife pass by as well as the chance to support this wonderful community we have here. My only request is to have the blades done in carbon steel. The stamp sounds wonderful.

Sincerely,

ken

I'd like to see a large Trapper with a Wharncliffe blade, or perhaps a Coke Bottle Hunter.

In carbon steel, of course.

Thanks for taking on this project guys. I'd be interested in pretty much any pattern that is decided on. What I would like to see is a handle material that isn't normally available on that knife or something else that makes it unique besides just an etch or stamp. Seeing the pics of last years knife has me sorry that I missed out.

I think that the bf stamp is a great idea:thumbup: Does it make a difference in which manufacturer is chosen? I wasn't sure if you meant that we could have one made and sent to whichever one is picked or if one of the companies offered to do it.

I would also like to Thank our new Board of Directors! :D
I look forward to seeing what patterns, blade steel & handle material we can choose from in your price range. With those 3 companies it ought to be pretty interesting.
I also really like the tang stamp idea, it sets the knife apart from other knives just like the bolster stamp on the Barlow does.
Once again Thanks for takin this on Men!! It's gonna be fun!

Dave

First, to you three who will be committing your time and effort for the benefit of us all, Thank You!

The tang stamp is a cool idea:thumbup:

The three patterns I would most like to see are
Mountain Man single blade lock-back from Queen/S&M,
Wildcat Driller (2 blade model) from S&M,
Toenail/Sunfish from GEC Northfield in an acrylic made just for us.

I plan on being in for whatever comes, but I think a big knife is in order.

Good luck guys.

I would like an equal ended jack or a BIG stockman. At least 4". I like the big clip blade, and maybe a spey and harness punch. Bone scales.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I'd like to see an interesting handle like buffalo horn, or rams horn, etc. I think that would be awesome. As for the pattern, something like a nice single blade, or a nice large stockman, i.e. queen or canal streets 4 incher.

First, thanks to all three who stepped up to take this effort on!

I'm good with anything that comes up, although I do like the idea of a large single blade like Queen's S&M Coke Bottle. And the BF tang stamp is a must in my opinion!

Dave

I too want to thank Charlie, mikeymoto and ea42 for stepping up and guiding the 2010 traditional bladesforums project to completion.

I support the idea of going with a tang stamp, which can be replicated if so desired in the future. I agree with Charlies comment that the previous traditional bladeforums knife projects have been on the smaller side. I would like to see us build a knife in the 3 7/8 to 4" range of carbon steel.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I would love to see us build a serpentine jack with a Turkish clip blade, saber ground, with 2 swedges, jigged bone scales. As I write this, it may be a tall order as I'm not sure if the manufactures we're considering are, or are planning to build that pattern.

I also like the idea of a Turkish clip bladed stockman with jugged bone scales, similar to, or along the same lines as the Queen made Moore Maker 5301, a 3 7/8" knife.

Queen has also done some interesting collaborations with Dan Burke, in a range of patterns (stockman, whittler, toenail, and others). What are the possibilities of building from there?

Just some stream of conscience thoughts. Once again, thanks again for stepping up and taking on the 2010 project. I look forward to seeing how this years knife develops.

Jay

Charlie, Mikeymoto and ea42, My hats off to you:thumbup: for picking up the ball for 2010! I like the tang stamp idea too:thumbup: as far as patterns go I have many favorites and some that I don't have yet (the 2009 Barlow will be my first knife in this pattern and I like the suspense:D) Botom line is I enjoy the process of voting/eliminating ideas and will "be all in" for what ever becomes the bottom line product....even if its a camel, though I would prefer the 2 hump pattern lol:eek:

Lobster baby !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, sorry for that....
Swell center Moose, Mountain Man, or Large stockman.
Big guy, big knife.....
I go eat some red meat now. grrr errr
I will opine on the scales, blade choice, and steel once we get a pattern picked.
Tang stamp is a must!!!!

Tang stamp sounds great! I'd like to see a Hawbaker Muskrat with carbon blades apx 4" closed with bone or rams horn scales. A slim barehead trapper
like Case makes would look good too.

Thank you gentlemen for taking on this project. For my $.02... How about a Harness Jack from Queen or GEC?

+1 A 4" Muskrat would satisfy the need for a bigger Forum Knife, without getting so large as to discourage smaller-knife lovers. You get the benefit of a clip and wharnecliff blade, all in a thin single-spring package. I could see one of the knifemakers here contracting to make some cool redbone or Schrade Walden brownbone. 1095 or D2 should be a popular steel for this.

I could also go for a single-blade shadow pattern like a sodbuster, in micarta and CPM154.

Oh, the choices.

Well, I was going to come in here and make a request for a particular pattern, but then I started reading, and now I can't decide. I would love to get in on this one, especially since it will be my first Forum knife. If I could just add that I also would prefer thin carbon blades, or even D2.

Thanks to those who are stepping up!

I absolutely love the big cattle knife by GEC, which they call a three spring whittler stockman. I vote for a big cattle/stockman/congress pattern. Big. And thanks to the good folks doing the work on this.
