1. Yes to bigger

2. No. Prefer Equal End or Swell Center (The knives shown in posts #340 and #348 are jaw droppingly nice)

3. Tear drop would be my next choice, though

1) Bigger, 3 3/4 to 3 7/8"
2) First choice, S&M 3 7/8" swell center
3) second choices; Tideouts Jack, GEC Muskrat, dogleg or serpentine jack

1)Is bigger O.K? - Yes but, keep it pocketable for office types.

2)Is the Teardrop number 1 choice? - No

3)What's your second choice?? - Regular Jack/ English Jack, Dogleg or Serpentine for me.

1. Big is OK
2. 1st choice, Swell Center
3. 2nd choice, would be the Swaybelly Trapper. If we are going with a larger pattern then personally I would prefer longer blades.

1)YES
2)Mountain Man
3)That Teardrop Harness Jack looked pretty good.

1)Is bigger O.K? Yes
2)Is the Teardrop number 1 choice? Yes
3)What's your second choice? English Jack or Dogleg

bigger------4" or below please
Teardrop----yes
2nd choice--Texas Jack
I really would not carry a mountain man or sodbuster. I just don't need that big of a knife to get about 99% done of what I do. By the way I have both of the above but just use them on the weekend for work around the house and yard.

If it is overwhelming, perhaps we can dispense with the poll, and move on to GEC.
Just simply, 3 questions;
1)Is bigger O.K?
2)Is the Teardrop number 1 choice?
3)What's your second choice??

1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) Harness jack.
On to GEC!

1)Is bigger O.K?Yes Definitely!
2)Is the Teardrop number 1 choice?Yes I prefer the S&M with the double bolster
3)What's your second choice??Equal end Harness Jack(regular not swell center)
Thanks.....Steven :)

I like equal end harness jack by GEC with the clip point main blade.

1. Bigger is better

2. Teardrop is fine, swell center is fine

3. Second choice would be a swell center English Jack.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

1. Bigger: Depends on which of the 2 patterns.
2. Swell center: No.
3. 2nd choice: Swell center.

My vote would be for the equal end Jack, which I think GEC's is 4 1/8", but should still be pocketable (I think).

I would like to say that there seems to be quite a few "new" people weighing in here. That is not a problem, but some don't seem to know how it's typically done, nor the time the ENTIRE process is.

Personally, I would really like to hear what CSC & Queen says as to their patterns, etc.

Having said that, if it is to be a GEC, my vote would be for the equal end Jack because I think it's slimmer (Easier pocket carry) than a swell center if both are the same length. Just a thought.

I'm guessing if it is to be GEC, then the steel will be 1095, right? I know GEC also makes knives in 440C & 420HC (For their Cripple Creek knives & maybe others, not sure). I have no problem with 1095, I'm just confirming that that is what we're talking about.

Also, if people are pretty set, maybe we can just do a poll. Whether we choose one of the 2 GEC patterns or possibly a 3rd choice of whether we wait until "Waynorth" hears back from the other manufacturers.

Just a thought & my opinion, only.

If I haven't said, thank you in advance, guys, for the jobs you're doing.

1: bigger is fine, but I don't work in an office so I'll take whatever is decided
2: Yes please
3:English jack, or slimline trapper

For those who haven't read back far enough, please read post #369!!!!!!!
We are trying to establish a pattern or two in each company, so we can talk to them. We are looking at Queen now, and will start Great Eastern in a day or so.
For now, please look at Post #369, and do your best on the three questions there.
We will be narrowing things down quickly now, so keep checking in!!

Just a thought,
A separate thread for each manufacturer would probably clear things up.

Thanks,

O.K, the discussion leans toward a Teardrop, with a swell center, or an English Jack as second choice. As well there seems to be a general acceptance of a bigger knife.
Has this experiment satisfied you all generally that this is a reasonable direction?
Let's get a little more response from you before I set up a poll. If it is overwhelming, perhaps we can dispense with the poll, and move on to GEC.

FLymon, good idea! We are at 400 posts and counting!
I will take your advice! After we are done with Queen, I'll start a thread for GEC!
I'd like to manage one thread at a time, so we'll lock this one when it's done.
Last chance to get your opinions on Queen in here, folks!!
Let's make today, midnight EDT the end of this collection of opinions.
