Thank you all very much for the inclusion!!! That is a real kick in the pants for me. :)

I was going to say something about how bad I got my butt kicked, but just being included in the finals this year again... with another knife that doesn't have 600 parts, engraving, or an espresso machine mounted on the side, is huge to me. Thank you! :)

Huge props to Gerhard.... that knife is just wonderful.... I LOVE IT!!! Fantastic blend of great lines, great materials, and an unusual (but awesome) approach to handle construction. FANTASTIC KNIFE!!!!
  :)

Nick, your Paranee Fighter is the stuff!
I had the opportunity to handle #3 when I met a fellow forum brother at the NYCKS this past November and I've been trying to spirit that knife into my collection ever since. He ain't givin' it up and I don't blame him.
Doesn't need to have 600 pieces. It's a beauty of a design that has to be handled to be fully appreciated. And I'm a guy who does appreciate highly embellished, 600 piece knives also :D

Rob, stop coveting my #3 brother ;)

Michael good memory, yup mine had the sweet cardboard handle that you all were just drooling to get!

Jeff

Indeed, only the finest cardboard!
I'm usually a hamon lovin' or damascus pattern freak. Handles of ivory ot fine wood please. However, Wheeler/Paranee Fighter is just "right" the way it is with cardboard and straight up polish.

Thanks guys! :)

Just wanted to clarify that I was absolutely NOT trying to bash on any of the other finalist knives, ANY highly embellished knives ANYWHERE for that matter..... or espresso machines. ;)

After seeing my last post again, I can see where someone could think I was being a jerk..... because there are other knives in this thread, like my good friend John White's masterpiece.... which has engraving, a lot of parts, and was clearly a very complicated project to build.

I HOPE no one took my post that way. I simply meant it was exciting for me to be included with a knife that was designed for function far ahead of aesthetics, and had a relatively simple construction. :)

THANKS! :)

Sending condolences out to you and your family Gerhard. Congratulations on a fine looking Bowie ! Bladeforums Best Bowie yearly event continues to give us blade lovers a chance to see such great craftsmanship from all who participated. I'm sure most makers are already planning for this years contest and the rest of us will be looking forward to seeing more great Bowies to come !
