Anyone want to guess which two makers are tied for most appearances in the final round over the years?

Don't look it up, now. :p

Roger

Bingo - out of the 5 years, each have had a knife in the finals 4 times. That's some impressive consistency.

Roger

Probably something in the Missouri water ??.....

Congrats Gerhard. This will shoot your business way up as everyone in the world will know you won best bowie of 2011. Sorry about your loss, and hoping you the best in 2012. Keep making cool knives.

Please let me add my condolences for the loss in your family and a hearty WELL DONE for your work.

Gary

thank you all for your warm condolences and the congratulations! (strange combination...)

@ david,
this plague looks fantastic-
it will find a firstrate-place in my home!

@ roger,
and a maker with the least of all nominations in the final over the years?
it´s me- but I´ll work hard to change it.....

best regards
gerhard

ps: probably interesting for the one or other-
this is my subforum ´wieland, der schmied´ in the german ´messerforum´- there are more of my recent knives:

Gerhard - keep up the fine work and I'm sure you'll be back.

Roger

PS - you should announce your big win on your forum!

I'd like to congratulate you on your win. I was really taken by your design.

My sympathies for you and your family. I can only hope this will lighten your burden.

thank you too for both-
the congratulations and the condolences!

I feel so much sympathy!

Gerhard,

You have both my sympathies for your family and my admiration for your work. ( In knives and boats!)

It's good to have you on Bladeforums, and I hope to see you one year at the Blade Show in Atlanta.

John

john, thank you for your good words!
we´ll see, what the future brings-

Gerhard, deepest sympathies to you and your family. Always difficult, more so when unexpected and during the holidays. My families prayers are with you.

Your win is well deserved and the design of the knife is really something to behold! Congratulations and please post often!

@r connally,

thanks to you too for your condolences and the congratulations!

best regards

Thank you all very much for the inclusion!!! That is a real kick in the pants for me. :)

I was going to say something about how bad I got my butt kicked, but just being included in the finals this year again... with another knife that doesn't have 600 parts, engraving, or an espresso machine mounted on the side, is huge to me. Thank you! :)

Huge props to Gerhard.... that knife is just wonderful.... I LOVE IT!!! Fantastic blend of great lines, great materials, and an unusual (but awesome) approach to handle construction. FANTASTIC KNIFE!!!!  :)
