2011 SHOT Show: Spyderco with Sal Glesser

One thing about this video strikes me; Sal seems like a good decent guy. For that reason alone, I'll buy more of his knives. I like supporting good people. Of course, I have more Spyderco's than any other knife. I like their design and functionality so it's a win/win situation.

 Agree 100%

Same here. I was never into what was most popular before, so I guess it makes sense that I wouldn't automatically dislike Nutn'.

For me, the preview was great. Covered more stuff I was interested in than I wasn't.

I wonder if the ti native will be s35v as well as the regular one, been interested in trying this new steel

Was just looking at my ti military don't see anything that would keep it from overextending out . I did buy it last spring guess it was a rolling change after I got mine I did remove the clip and bend it to the right so that will help I guess .I don't really over use it though its to slick in winter when hands are dry , I have been looking for someone who could machine some texture into handle for a long time now with no luck

Thanks for doing this Sal.

I did not know a Ti Native was in the works. That one is going on the list for sure.

And to you guys complaining about nutnfancy, he provides a service to the community, and you should be thankful. Without him you wouldn't have this video or the information it brought. Are you guys going to go out there and donate your time?

Thanks again Sal.

:)

Attraction rather than promotion.
That's all I gotta say.
Humility will win the battle any day of the week when I'm a witness.
I've been through enough... I won't play politics anymore.
If you can't fill in the dots, please don't further inflame this thread.

I agree but not that much. Do you click on his adsense ads or hit the X in the corner of the box. Trust me, the most money he's making is maybe his T-shirts, and other crap, and the new $85 sprint run of Ontario RAT-1 folders. NnF is the most popular because he's the best reviewer. I think he was the 6 or 8th most watched reviewer of "anything" on YTube, last time I checked.

The only way he would make serious money is to take payment to give super interviews on knives & gear from manufacturers. I don't think he does. I think he gets knives & gear easily fronted to him to review, but he always says that they're "on loan" and not sure if he's going to buy them or not. I don't believe he's a thief and taking pay-offs. YMMV

He is getting paid VERY well for his videos. Every time a person views one of his videos he gets paid for that view. In advertising(and with Google Adsense), it's called an "impression". Clicking on an ad has a higher payout.

He's part of what is known as the Youtube Partner Program. Essentially, he has agreed to let Youtube/Google Adsense to place ads on his videos. YT/Google gets paid by the companies who want to advertise, and the Youtube Partner gets a piece of that pie for allowing the ads to be placed on their vids.

There are several people on Youtube, MysteryGuitarMan for example, whose primary income is the revenue generated from YT/Adsense advertising.

I'm glad there is someone out there to provide this type of information, but he is definitely not "donating" his time.

dillon_b12, as a veteran of 9 years operating several commercial websites and 8 blogs, there's nothing about adsense that you can teach me.

I can assure you that my previous statement stands.

Do you click on his adsense ads or hit the X in the corner of the box??

I've never clicked on an adsense pop-up in my life. Some poor misguided soul spent anywhere from cents to many dollars for that ad and I'm not going to steal his money. Regular viewers want to watch the video not some "related" topic item shown in the ad. Just my $02 :)

cziv,

There was a thread a while back by powernoodle that listed the estimated revenue from TNP. It was more than enough money for one to live off. The figure has since been removed per moderator's request.

Have you run a YT partner account? If you haven't, how are you sure he's not making any money from it? YT Partners get paid from both Youtube and Google Adsense(if they've signed up for Adsense).

There has been a lot of praise for Sal and his professionalism in this video. How quickly some of us forget that Sal himself supports the shiny footprints principle.
It is actually quite simple as I see it; if you do not like NutnFancy, DO NOT WATCH his videos. We will always have chronic complainers, but I for one, feel that NutnFancy does a great job on all aspects of his work, from knives, guns, gear, and even to his life philosophies.
Thank you Sal for your time and fantastic line of knives!
Thank you NutnFancy for your time and opening up a window into the shot show experience for those of us that could not go. Thick skin my friend, the dart throwers are out and about.

What I gathered from the video, is how nice of a getleman Sal is. How great to be able to sit and chat with him.

Sal, you seem like the kind of guy who would be very approachable and fun to talk to. Thanks for that!

Also, the other thing I gathered is how much I want one of those slipits! LOL

I'll admit I'm hypocritical when it comes to Nutnfancy. I enjoy his reviews but I cant stand how egotistical he is sometimes. I actually feel like puking when he starts preaching about life. The way he was strutting around Shot Show like he owned the place was pretty embarassing to watch. Bottom line is he's a great reviewer but he just rubs me the wrong way at times. YMMV. I found it really annoying that he found it necessary to interrupt Sal every 5 seconds to say something retarded like "This is Nutnshmancy we dont do it that way" or "derp derp whats the price point on that".

Yeah it was extremely annoying....

I know, I said "I" don't think he's one. I like NnF Project. I like your videos and So-Lo's vids a lot too. :) I wish yours were longer sometimes. :(

Sorry, let's get back on track here!

Thank you for the kind words :)

A big thanks to Sal and Nutin for making these videos possible
