I feel that with a project such as this it is a given that not everybody will be happy. What kind of concerns me, and always has, is the feeling that is projected as such "if you vote then you should be committed to buy". With this knife, and all knives really, it is a supliferous purchase. For myself I rarely have hundreds of extra dollars sitting around waiting for me to spend. As such I have voted on a few years, and never purchased the knife chosen as I won't carry or use it. I'm not a fan of "buy it anyways and flip it later", as that is not the focus of my collection. I will admit that I am curious to try the Moose from a couple of years ago, but none of the others do anything for me when I voted against them. If they were my type of knife with features I didn't choose as first, then I would have bought them. But for me I'm not going to buy something that I won't use just to be part of the club, my lifestyle doesn't fit this way.
I guess it will be up to the committee of next year to determine eligibility of who can vote, but I think the forum knife will loose out if it is stipulated that "only those who will buy a pattern no matter what is chosen can vote at any stage". It seems that year to year there is a vocal part of the community that seems to push this type of rule, and if so I would just refrain from the process at all. Hopefully I'm reading too much into comments, but from participating every year until it is clear that the knife won't be useable for me, it seems that I am held in a bit of contempt (not personally but due to voting and not purchasing) because I choose to save my limited funds for what will suit me better.
Just want to put out the other side of the purchase issue.
