2012 BladeForums knife --NEW update 2-22-2012

I guess we've become too big for our britches? I have no problem running it this way, and it sounds like the optimal situation considering the financial and logistical concerns. My main question would be, who's responsibility will it be for the initial discussions with the manufacturers to determine if our choice of knife is even do-able? Seems like alot of hassle for Kevin - may make sense to keep that as a forumite responibility.

I'm definitely in for a forum knife, and am willing to help out in any way I can, short of making phone calls. I'm not a verbal communicator, but if you need help with other organizational duties, committees, etc, I'm here to help. :)

I hope that the design and life will allow me to participate this year. Going through the dealer aspect of Spark is a good compromise, and besides- Spark needs to do something to earn his right??;)

I will keep my thoughts simple,

If we have the pattern, manufacturer, rough ETA, and final cost nailed down before I have to commit non-refundable money, then I will be in.
If not, not.

+1 -- especially the final cost.

I had not even realized that there was a BladeForums knife until the review of the 2011 model was posted. I'm definitely interested and as soon as the announcement is made, you can expect my deposit!:)

I am in for one.

Sounds like a good system. Man, the 2012 Bladeforums Sowbelly is going to RULE!! :D

I will be glad to lend a hand to NONCONUS folks who have a track record here in trad. (Just do not stick me with those shipping fees :D).

Frank and Gary,
thanks for the info. I wasn't here for the previous BF knives, so I don't mind the difference in the plan, and anyway this year's strategy sounds fair to me.
I also hope there would be no problems with international shipping, although, depending on the time of the year the knife is shipped, I might easily have a US shipping address to avoid any issues.
On one side, I would like to jump in "blindly", but in the end I guess I will wait till the details are decided (pattern, maker, approx. price and so on). I'd also like to volunteer to the team, but I guess my geographical position would make my presence more hassle then help, so I will just contribute to the discussion here.
Thanks to everyone who will work to make this possible.

Fausto

Depending on pattern I'm in. To keep the cost down would like to recommend piggybacking on a manufacturer's planned production schedule with an embellishment unique to the BF version. The recently announced Case / Bose Lanny's Clip might be a popular candidate.

An absolute price won't be announced at the outset, but we will try to have a not-to-exceed price.
From my perspective, a ballpark ceiling is going to be the most important parameter to lay down before I can commit. There are so many designs, makers and materials I would love to have, but none are realistic within the C-note range that has been our recent guideline. If we are planning on substantially raising that ceiling, I need to know so I can either sell an unneeded body part or resign myself to being dealt out of this hand.

We have too many international members to NOT have international shipping.
With great respect to Gus's offer, I don't feel his offer should be necessary.
I guess this one is in Kevin's court!
