2012 Bladeforums Knife - Pattern Poll

Happy Leap Year Day everyone

To celebrate this day that is so special that it only happens once every four years, let's finalize the pattern for the 2012 Forum knife in a simple democratic fashion...that I will screw up and make more complicated in a second. Since we started the process late this year, we want to kill a couple of birds with one stone. When yo vote for your favorite pattern, please input your preference on a couple of parameters I have listed with each knife. Please note that we do not know if the manufacturers will be able to comply with these wishes. DO NOT DISCUSS SCALE MATERIAL!!!!! That will be decided in a separate poll, since I believe the appeal of different scale materials is predicated on the knife pattern. So, without further ado, I give you the five nominees in no particular order:

The Wharncliffe Trapper/Jack. Please specify shield, size, one- or two-bladed (list second blade preference), bareheaded or two-bolster.

The Swayback Jack - it's like Wharncliffe Trapper, but backwards.Please specify shield, size, one- or two-bladed (list second blade preference), bareheaded or two-bolster.

The All-American (Large) Stockman. Please specify shield and if you want one of the blades replaced with a punch.

The Congress Jack. Please specify shield. I figure there'll just be one size on this one, probably 3.5" or a little larger, with a lambsfoot main blade and pen secondary.

The 2-Bladed Sowbelly, or Double-End Premium Jack. Please specify shield and choice of blades.

I hope I didn't inadvertently upset anyone by borrowing those pics. I figure this poll will last a week. Enjoy! Please only vote if you're serious about purchasing a knife.

I voted Congress Jack.

I think that it would look really uptown with a simple bar shield.

I voted 2 blade sowbelly. Clip point main blade anything but a spey blade for the second. Shield and scales - I'm game for anything.

Nice set of choices this year. I wouldn't feel too bad no matter what wins.

Lots of good knives here but my top choice is the sowbelly... sowbelly shield (aka "bodice" or "barbie") ...clip blade primary and sheepfoot secondary ...but I'd also be happy with a spey or pen secondary.

I voted Congress Jack. I like the blade configuration in the pictured example. Three inches would be nice, but 3.5 or even four is fine by me.

I voted for the Wharncliff Trapper, two blades with a California Clip as the second blade, 3 1/2 to 3 7/8 inch, bareheaded.

I voted sowbelly, with a clip main and small pen secondary. Hopefully a single spring model, like the one pictured.

For the shield, how about a flag-shaped one stamped with "USA"?

I voted congress jack! Love all of the choices especially the swayback and WT, but after studying the pics, the CJ is the one I like the most. I too, would like a bar shield. Kinda like Abe Lincoln's knife.

Edited to add that I also want the wrap around spring. Like the sway back.

I've always liked the Congress pattern, and that's what I voted for, however, like many others have already stated, I'll get whatever the majority decides.

I voted for the sway back. Single bolster, single blade would be my preference. I do have to say that a single blade wharncliffe trapper like the one pictured is a very close second for me.

In my opinion the congress jack would look best with a Federal Shield, a bar shield, or none at all. 3.5" is the largest it should be.

Once again, some very nice choices for the 2012 traditional forum knife.
I voted for the 2 blade sowbelly, outfitted with a Turkish clip main blade and spay, with Bodice shield.

I would prefer one of the higher end stainless steels, like 12C27, ATS-34, or CPM 154.

Voted Congress Jack which I'm pleased to see is leading by 40% of the vote currently. I like the blade config of the example knife and would want the forum knife done in the same manner. That is, crest shield, and pen blade in front of the main. Long pull and lined bolsters would be icing on the cake.
