2012 Catalog

The Cyro looks nice. Its good to see a knife thats not Black G10. I will get one when they become avialiable.

That just pushes me over to ZT. They are taking more of the maxed out production capacity with their line of wonderful knives. Don't think of it as moving towards Chinese knives. Think of it as filling the bottom of their line with some well made cheap knives. Get people hooked on the cheap stuff and then move them up to the great.:D

As a card carrying Union man that is hard for me to say. But because they are maxed out and do not want to expand their US operations they have little choice.

I do wish they were called by a different name, but that would hurt sales. But you could call them Kershaw Blue or whatever. And save the great Kershaw name for US and Japanese models.

I hate what has happened to Gerbers "good" name when they flooded the market with their lower end import models.

Just my 2 cents so don't hate.

I appreciate this balanced response towards our imported products. I want to be clear about one thing - we are deeply committed to producing high quality knives, regardless of the country of origin. We hold our Chinese factories to a high standard, and if the products don't meet our standard of quality, they go back. We are quite proud of the value these products offer. While we always want to increase our sales, we don't want to sacrifice quality in the process.

Our Chinese products are designed and engineered here in the US, and we feel that they provide a great value for anyone who wants a high quality knife at a bargain price. We are still fully committed to poducing quality products in the USA (we're cranking out as many as possible, and still working to increase our efficiency) , but sourcing products from overseas allows us to reach a much more broad customer base.

I'm really looking forward to this one as well. The first protos were solid as a rock - great lockup, and an overall feeling of toughness. I really think thiss is going to be a great knife, and the final version will have a few small refinements that should make it even better.

A few people have said that they wished it was bigger, but I think once people get this knife in their hands, they'll see what a great little package it is.

I really dig the Cryo too, I think it will be perfect for what it is. I hope it generates enough popularity to for a Cryo 2 or some sprint runs.

Edit: I also can't wait to see the US made models releasing later on next year.

I really wish kershaw would manufacture more knives that weren't AO. lots of good designs in there.

Do you see how many USA Kershaw's are available?

Yes I did, and I do understand the value of having a lower end line to introduce people to the hobby and support the higher end line. I just get suspicious when I see companies making the move towards China, since knives are one of the few consumer items that give you the option of quality US or Japanese products (I've seen products in other hobbies make the complete move to China, and QC and customer service always suffer). Kershaw is unique in being able to produce cheap imports for Walmart without sacrificing a higher end set of products, but I'd hate to see that change. Not saying that it's changing right now, but every time I see Chinese products creeping into higher price brackets it makes me wary, especially after so many other knife companies have crapped out after going overseas.

SOOO looking forward to this little Hinderer design. Maybe we could get a Blade Forums exclusive first production run? Hell, I just want one!

Man there is some good looking stuff this year!!! I'm really looking forward to the stainless Zing. Got to handle those at Blade and man are they nice. The desert tan Blur is also near the top of my list.

Good stuff Kershaw!

Great job on the catalog, Kershaw! Seriously, that is one of the most attractive, well designed catalogs I've ever seen. Love the inclusion of in-hand shots for some knives, especially. That's raising the bar as far as I'm concerned. Oh, yeah, lots of great knives too! I've been loving & looking forward to the Knockout, Piston, & Echelon for almost a year now! But that Cryo looks sweeeet! A budget ZT, pretty much, & I also love that it's gray instead of black. Looks like Kershaws gonna have a great year, indeed! I know a lot of my money is certainly headed their way!

theres a lot of really interesting stuff in there. A couple of oldies brought back, and that camp knife!

Yeah that camp knife is sexy as hell. When are the items from the catalog typically available for order, and whom would have them quickest? I needs me a blur or three and that camp 10 shall be mine.

There are more new products than I expected. A nice surprise.

A Blur with the glass breaker and a regular blade! I have been waiting for this!
