2012 condor line

So i gots my Warlock finally, its a decent knife but i was not overcome with feelings of glee when i got it, maybe its just because i have about 5 other choppers. Im not sure if im gonna keep it or sell it off here or what at the moment.

Pluses
Nice Flat grind
super comfortable handle
chops well for a shorter lighter chopper

Minuses
the sheath is sort of odd, made of great thick leather but the top isnt cut in profile with the knife(odd since its obviously made for it but its not a super big deal) and im not a real fan of draw thru instead of draw up sheaths for a knife that doesnt have a super long long blade. Also im not sure the swivel is going to hold up to what i do with my knives.

Is kind of balance neutral which is also odd for what is basically a chopper only. It does have a bit of point heaviness but not IMO as much as it needs.

Doesnt chop as well as my Mukti, Golok or Hibben Rambo.(since the Mukti is so much bigger i can see that but i was suprised that it wasnt choppier:D than the Golok. Ill try sharpening the bejesus out of it and go from there).

Ill get some pics up later as well.

The swivel will hold up just fine--I've been pretty rough on my Condors over the years and never had a failure. The neutral balance makes sense to me given its "tactical" classification on the website. :)

I'm crazy impressed with the Dadao and am having to fight of the urge to keep it for myself. I just wish I had a pig carcass to take it to or something. A shame I'm already done culling chickens for the season. :D

Good to know about the swivel, im just worried since it is seriously thinned out on one side of the loop. Its not a bad knife at all and i may learn to love it but im just not blown away at the moment. It might also be better for someone who doesnt use it quite like i do or maybe as a tactical sort of thing, i mean you are talking to the man who is making himself a 4lb+ chopper-of-death, im sort of an oddity customer wise.

The Dadao is on my list as well, does it seem short like you and i were talking about months ago? Im thinking that the extra shortness might make it more handy, what do you think?

Could you post a pic of the way the Dadao looks without the coating all I can find is the catalog pics with the black blade.

I think it's the perfect size. It's absolutely brutal and I love it. The only thing I'd change about it would be not glueing the straps down where they're stitched on the back so you could run a belt through the loops and baldric carry it.

I think I could manage that! Pardon the background--I snapped 'em in the house. :)

The Dadao looks great, perfect size too.

Great, now i want, nay need one of these as well.

OK. I will give the swivel a chance although it never did inspire confidence with me either. It took very little strength to pull apart the loop from the rivet on my Hudson Bay, which I did intentionaly. Maybe that sheath was a bit off. So far my Condor experience has been: Parang, very well executed in every regard, moderately dull from the factory. Hudson Bay, a little rougher in fit and finnish but not bad. It has a moderate warp to the left when looking down the spine. I still love its feel and the knife in general. Barong, well made like the parang and this one had a better factory edge than my last two Condors. Looks like good things are coming in 2012 and I look forward to it.

I got to check one of these out at Blade, and the word "brutal" pretty much sums it up. What a monster! Holding that sucker, you get the sense that you could chop a person cleanly in half at the waist with it, no problem. It's like a cartoon of a knife, and I love it! They only had one of them at the Condor booth, and didn't want to sell it right away, otherwise it would have gone home with me. I'll be getting one of these for sure.

I walked around the Blade show for about 5 hours yesterday, looking at everything. The Dadao wins my award for the most ridiculously badass blade at the show. By FAR the most badassery for your buck. There were some other pretty brutal pieces there too, but they were all really expensive. Some CRAZY warhammers that I really wanted, but they were like $350.

Yeah--I remember you having that issue with the sheath on your Hudson Bay Knife and I remember that the skiving of the belt loop had been a little off. I think that if it was easy for you to pull apart then the length of the "easy rivet" was probably too long for the material it was passed through.

I saw and got to handle the Warlock. It's a beast too. Bigger and better balanced than the Boomslang, it should be a real winner.

They all should be real winners! :D

Just spruced up the edges on the models I got in. They'll be up on the site either this evening or (more likely) mid-day tomorrow.

Congrats! It'll go out first thing tomorrow. :D I'm lovin' it, and will probably end up with one of my own. Now if the rest of 'em would just show up already. :p

Yup waiting for the engineer bolo to come in, definitely getting that one. Just gotta decide if i want to get the pack golok or the village parang at the same time.

Yeah the Engineer Bolo was one of the ones that distributor listed as being in-stock. I was SO disappointed when that one didn't show up. I've always wanted to get my hands on an original but never had the cash.

So here is some pics of the Warlock with some other knives for scale purposes;

The odd sheath stuff in the above and below

And heres the swivel. Its really thin on one side so im hoping its going to hold up.

The thinness is from them skiving the ends to a taper so they mate properly for the rivet. Once in a very blue moon they do one too thin, but it's really uncommon.

Its not a big deal if it holds up, i dont really care how it looks, this is just my 1st Condor sheath though oddly my 3rd Condor knife.
