2012 condor line

I think I'm going to hold back and wait for the first few reviews before I grab the new stuff. I bought a first gen Bushlore and Nessmuk and I wished I had waited till the second gen to buy them so I'll work on getting the stuff that has the bugs worked out.

I am waiting as well. I was going to buy 6 of the new blades, but I want to see them in use, or at least read some reviews first.

The 50% price hike kinda dampened my spirits a little on the Warlock, but we'll see. Don't know if it was that particular site that messed up the price or because they went quick, they thought they could command a premium ? Maybe later on i will still pick one up. Waiting for reviews as well.

They were selling those at almost dealer pricing before they corrected it. The MSRP is $120 on those, so $80 is plenty reasonable. In fact, if they were selling them for $25 less, that means they were selling at $55 which is actually LESS THAN dealer pricing. So the reason they changed it was because they were LOSING money rather than making it. ;)

UPDATE:While waiting for the distributor I had placed my big order through to get their shipment in, I noticed that another one of my distributors had SOME of the new product available so I placed a small supplementary order just to get stuff in the pipeline. They're not far from me, either, so it should get here quickly!

The one problem with this particular distributor is that sometimes their inventory system and their actual available quantity don't jive so sometimes stuff I expect to arrive doesn't because it's on backorder. So, bearing that in mind I figured I'd let you know I placed a small order for just one or two of the Lochnessmuk, Pack Golok, HD Kukri, Dynasty Dadao, Engineer Bolo, and Village Parang. We'll see how many actually show up, but at least it'll help me "prime the pump" while I'm still waiting for the big shipment to come in. :)

I couldnt believe it when i saw that they were $48 which was the entire reason i preordered, something i never do.

Seriously I wish I had noticed they had it that cheap! I would have ordered some! :D

I thought about posting it but was afraid of the whole deal spotting thing. I did mention it without links a couple times though.

I was sort of expecting it to cost somewhere near the Boomslang myself, cant wait to get mine thursday.

42- are the ones you ordered for personal use or for sale ? I am interested in a Lochnessmuk & Pack Golock, depending on price.

They'll be for sale! Pricing will be in line with the rest of the Condor I carry--about 25% off MSRP. There might be a "Grade B" or two in there, too, in which case you'd be looking at a cosmetic blem but huge discount. :)

I've ordered a number of Condors from 42 Blades and have been very satisfied! Having said that, The Hudson's Bay is my all around favorite. I just returned from a 10 day camping trip in the Smokies and that HB knife can do it all.

I didn't try and kill a bear with it, though!

Please don't! I don't want to lose a customer! :D:D:D

The Hudson Bay is my other half's favorite. One of the only knives she's been immediately taken with. :p:thumbup:

I heard Condor can't keep up with all the orders coming in. I guess the salvadorians making the machetes can't keep up with supply and demand. They are backed up with back orders. I've been waiting for the Condor pack golok for over 3 months now. Hopefully I will get it in soon.

Yeah they're kind of victims of their own success at the moment. I hear they're working on getting some new equipment installed that should be ready for next year to help iron out some wrinkles. Property, plant, and equipment are often the biggest growing pains for manufacturers of all sizes. It's all spendy and complex stuff, and even once you've paid for the stuff it's never actually ready to use as soon as you'd like. :D

Got my 3 blades from knifecenter. They're all reasonably sharp, but not razor. Pretty well made given the price. The villager parang is pretty darn heavy -- should make a monster chopper. The Lochnessmuk has great balance for a chopper, I really like it. The pack golok is my favorite. It's lighter than the villager parang but heavier than the lochnessmuk with the same feel and balance. I will test all 3 when I got the time.

BTW the leather sheaths are brown colored, not black as I thought in the pictures

Is it the same factories that makes tramontina, imacasa, and marbles machetes?

Not quite. Condor is a premium sub-brand of Imacasa. Marbles contracts machetes and (recently) axes from Imacasa and has them finish them better than Imacasa's standard offerings but not as good as Condor. Tramontina is an entirely unrelated company and is based out of Brazil (South America) rather than El Salvador (Central America).

ESEE gets the blades for their Lite Machete from Imacasa, as does Blind Horse Knives for their machete, and Andy Roy (Fiddleback Forge) for his.

Hm the Kephart still seems to be on pre-order at knifecenter... wondering, but should probably be there according to Joe (#139)

Update: The previously mentioned distributor that I ordered a small selection of 2012 items from only billed be for about half the value of the items I had ordered, which confirms what I had suspected--they didn't have sufficient quantities to completely fulfill my order. Guess I'll see what they ran dry of when they arrive within the next few days. Such is the nature of these things. :p

One more update!: The only things my distributor actually had in stock were the Dynasty Dadao and the Lochnessmuk. :(

Got two Lochnessmuks and one Dadao in. The Dadao and one of the lochnessies are going to be "Grade B" items (Dadao has a small nick in the leather on the backside of the sheath and the nessie has a very slight unevenness on a small spot at the top of one scale) and the other a Special Grade, as I'm not quite happy with the edge. That being said, I'm crazy impressed with them.

The Dadao has a polished blade rather than the pictured black (Rick had told me about this change a while back) and looks incredible. The sheath is a different leather from their usual--it's stiffer and has a waxed looking bright finish on it. The Lochnessmuks seem to have a full convex to them and very beefy handles with lots of material for folks to customize if they so choose, but comfy as they come stock as well. Very cool, and I can't wait to see the rest of the line!

They'll be up on the site as soon as I thin out the edges. :)
