2012 HTM Forum Gunhammer: Blade markings -- *INPUT NEEDED*

Also, if we don't put markings on the spine, it leaves it open for possible filework and such, for those who would customize it even further.

GUYS!!!!!!!!

Please send me ONE pic of the front and ONE pic of the REAR.
Please make a decision and make it as clear as water so that we do this right!!!!!!

Thanks!

Thanks to you all!!!! Your faith in our knives is an honor.
Thanks to Hark and Neuron for their kick butt perseverance. A project like this takes much time and effort.
We will get them started as soon as we are all in!

Big thumbs up to Neuron and Hark for for getting this done in an orderly fashion:thumbup: I know this Gunhammer will be Highly valued by those lucky enough to get one, I will never get rid of mine thats all I know:D

I'll cast my vote for Scurvy's suggestion. DDR and steel type on one side, HTM and serial number (XX of XX) on the other.

I like Scurvys suggestion still. I still like the hidden thing too, though. But Scurvys is pretty classic and I like it more.

Post #14 is my vote for the back side and I like Scurvys original presentation side.

I think I like this the best (my apologies for my lame MSPaint skillz):

And then on the other side where the cts-xhp is, put the 1 of xx

Super clean IMHO

The steel will be marked like so except it will say CPM S90V as long as everyone likes this style. I vote for this.

im confused i thought it was gona be s90v but there is some kind of pole where i cant find it!!!!
Don't worry, that was just an example back when CTS-XHP was one of the steels up for consideration. The final steel that was decided upon -- it won the poll by a wide margin -- is CPM-S90V. :)

I think the bladesteel should be stamped anywhere it can be seen easily, as in the example above. I sure as heck ain't gonna go and do filework on this knife. It's going to get used as is. I vote for the image Scurvy put up.

I am gonna use mine also. No collection queens in my safe. Yes, I keep them in a safe, but they are far from safe when I take them out. I still wouldn't hate the idea of some spine markings, but I am cool with what we will call Scurvy's Markings.

I've sent Darrel an email asking about the marking options. The one issue with Scurvy's is that they're marked on both sides instead of only on the presentation side (as is standard on the HTM GHs). Doing both sides may add to the cost of the knife, but, again, that's something I'm checking with Darrel about.

I'd be fine with a sterile blade myself, or even a very minimalistic approach that just has the blade steel and serial number on it (no logos).

He didn't mention a mark up in cost for marking both sides to me.... Quick, hold him to it!

He mentioned that it would take it into HTM Custom Shop territory; I interpreted that as being associated with an increase in cost, but you're right that he didn't mention it explicitly.
