2012 HTM Forum Gunhammer: *Commitment/Sign-up* thread

I don't think you can get them without thumbstuds. Darrel would have to change a lot of the design for that to happen. The studs serve as the stop pin first and foremost.

Oh man. Thanks for chiming in. There is definitely a lot of excitement surrounding this knife.

We look forward to getting all the details worked out, and thank you to DDR, Neuron and Hark for doing all of this.

I second that. Thanks to all who are making this possible and special thanks to DDR for posting and giving this a green light.

Important deposit/ordering info -- please read carefully!

Alright, guys, I just got off the phone with Darrel about the deposit/order procedure, and it's pretty straightforward -- basically like the ordering procedure for one of his customs. Here's what Darrel and his crew need to get started making these awesome knives:

1. A $180 deposit (i.e., 50% of the knife's price). Note that this deposit is non-refundable: this is a small and highly customized run by HTM's standards, so a deposit, in addition to being used for materials that have to be special-ordered (esp. the CPM-S90V for the blade), helps mitigate the risk of taking on such a small/specialized project for HTM. The project won't move forward until everyone's deposits are in, so get it done ASAP. You can pay the deposit in one of two ways:

i. By phone using a credit card. The main number for HTM (and Stephanie, who handles payments and other administrative/bookkeeping stuff for the company) is 740-965-9970. (Update: Just got an email from Darrel saying to call between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern time. Same goes for email to get an immediate response.)

ii. By mail using a USPS money order (please do not send personal checks or non-USPS money orders [which can be a pain in the arse to find a place to cash]). The address to send the money order to is:

HTM
4185 S State Route 605
Attn: Stephanie
Galena, OH 43021-9650

2. Whether you pay via phone or snail mail, you'll also need to include information about your knife so that Stephanie can send you a PDF file of your work order/receipt, which will reflect your knife's configuration and the deposit you've put down. Specifically, you'll need to provide:

i. Your serial number (see the list in this post) and forum username. (This should be obvious, but if you didn't get on the list before it closed at the end of July, you can't order one of these knives.)

ii. Your configuration choices, namely blade shape (Bowie -or- Torpedo) and opening mechanism (spring assisted -or- manual w/ Maxx Glide)

3. Contact information, specifically your name, mailing address, phone, and email. If you send payment via snail mail, include a sheet of paper (preferably typed, since the legibility of people's handwriting varies widely!) with this info on it. If you pay via phone, Stephanie will likely get most of this info from you, but it'd be good to follow up with an email (to stephaniewilliams.ddrcs@gmail.com) just for the sake of completeness/accuracy.

Again, the project won't move forward until everyone has completed the above procedure, so get it done right away.

Awesome sounds like I will be calling tomorrow. Is it ill advised to provide payment information via email?
Yes. Standard email (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) isn't secure enough for sending financial information to be a good idea. If you're providing a credit card number, stick to doing it by phone.

Dang, way to make this tough for me, guys! ;)

But since my intention (as reflected in the wording of my previous post) was to give the first shot at the lower number to those who had already committed but gotten a higher number, I'm going to give this one to dustyzz (who was already on the list at #27) even though his post came in 3 minutes later. mndart, if you'd still like to get onto the list, spots 26 and 27 are now available, as are spots 31-35.

Gee. I guess posting that I'll take the number isn't good enough. This is the first time I have been able to get back on the forums since I last posted.

Enjoy #16 dustyzz.

As I mentioned when I announced that the previous occupant of spot #16 had to withdraw (as well as in my reply that you quoted), the initial offer of spot #16 was to people who were already on the list, since they might have taken the lower number had it been available when they originally signed up.

Sorry for any confusion, but since you did post about getting on the list before it closed and just weren't able until now to check back and clarify whether you'd accept a spot other than #16, let me know if you want onto the list and I'll add you. That'll bring the total number to be produced to 36. You can have #36 or, if you'd like a (slightly) lower number, the #31 slot that I'm currently in (with me moving down to #36).

Thanks. #36 is fine. I dont care all that much about which #' I have, I just wanted to support the effort to have an HTM forum GH.

Thanks for understanding, and sorry again for any confusion. I've added you in slot #36. :)

Called in today and I guess Lisa is no longer there, but a nice young woman helped out.

Is Lisa no longer there forever, or just taking a vacation?
Not sure. It's been a while since I've called the main office, since I usually just call Darrel directly. That's another thing I'll ask Darrel about next time I talk to him.

Hey, what do you all think about having a thread dedicated to pictures and reviews of this knife, once we all get it. I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on the final product. See if we can make the next sprint run even better! I've already had some thoughts about that, actually...

-edit- Just for the record, I'd like to put my vote in for having a Madd Maxx sprint run. That might encourage me to actually get one.

My impression is that Lisa is gone as in there is no longer a business relationship as of this AM.
Stephanie will be taking the orders at least for now. Was very nice to deal with.
Best...

Just updated the original post to reflect the fact that Stephanie is the new DDR/HTM customer service/administrative person. Her email address is stephaniewilliams.ddrcs@gmail.com.

If you emailed any info to the old customer service address for Lisa Groves, please resend it to the new email address to make sure that Stephanie gets it.

I am paid up on the deposit. Thought I sent a post to this effect last night, but I don't see it in the thread, so I am sending again. Stephanie sent an order form back to me by email so that I could confirm all the details. Everything looks good at this point.
