I was just thinking the same thing. It was like a mad dash to get our deposits and now what? I don't think i ll do something like this again!
Any update? All this rush to get our payments In and then the project gets delayed?

The project hasn't been "delayed". As Darrel, Hark, and I have been saying all along, the ETA on these is in the 6-month range from the time that all the deposits were in and the order became official. That's the same timeframe as the KnifeCenter exclusive M390 Gunhammers (a similarly sized limited run): the KC folks put in the order for their exclusive run at the 2012 SHOT Show and started receiving the knives in mid-summer. As with the deposit that a dealer like KnifeCenter, Spark/1SKS (with the Kershaw forum knife), etc. puts down when they commission an exclusive, the deposits here are not just for special materials, but also serve as a tangible commitment from the ordering company/individual that allows the manufacturer to put the project in their production schedule by insuring against the dealer/individuals backing out.Think I'm with you.. Hell, this is a small limited run that should have been done in a month to month and a half... All he has to do is the steel, and anodize the handles.

I appreciate that you guys are eager for these knives. Everyone who ordered one is -- myself included. But making baseless claims about the timeframe in which the project "should" be completed with no knowledge of HTM's production schedule/operations (e.g., other projects that are scheduled for shop/machine time before this one -- the 600-piece limited run HTM Gunhammers with CTS-XHP, for instance) is simply irresponsible. The same goes for complaining that you want the knives rightnow less than a month after the deposit deadline passed and the order became official -- let alone insinuating that you're worried that Darrel/HTM simply took your deposit money and ran.
EDIT: Looks like Hark posted while I was typing my (slightly annoyed) reply. As he mentioned, the major development that we spoke somewhat cryptically about last week is that Darrel has been moving his shop and all of his employees from Ohio to a new facility in Texas. The new shop is 2.5x bigger than the old one, and Darrel will also be getting quite a bit of new equipment that will increase both the scale of the DDR/HTM operation and the amount of cool stuff that he can do, especially on the customs.
Sorry for being over bearing guys. But, my plan worked. Send the crowd into a frenzy, then someone will be forced to spill the beans!
Congrats on the new shop HTM/DDR. Just a little over 5 months to go on the Gunhammers!
This is correct. The 6-month estimate takes into account the move, other stuff ahead of the forum knife in the production schedule, and so forth. That's true Rev. But, I think when DDR quoted the 6 month time estimate, he probably factored in this move or at least a move, I am guessing. I can't imagine he all of a sudden up and decided to move across several states in less than a few weeks time. If the shop is almost done, he would've had to known before the deposits were even in.
