2012 HTM Forum Gunhammer: *Commitment/Sign-up* thread

HTM; I have recently just got around to filing my taxes for 2011, just now. And I have to pay taxes this year. Totally unexpected.. :(

With that being said, I will need to respectfully request for a refund of my $180 deposit. Above, ron finkbeiner jr, can take my place in queue for #18 if he so wishes.

Please let me know what to do to get my refund. Thank You.

Call the shop. I'm guessing Stephanie will answer the phone and take care of you. I think Darrel is out at some show.

Is it too late to sign back up? I would like one. Any number will do. Thank you.

Ron, I called HTM and spoke to Darrel. I would like to talk to you about the details outside of the public postings on here. I cannot Pm you or email because I to not set up.

Please email me, s6r1t8atgmaildotcom.

Thank you.

Hello Hark.

I spoke to someone there named Darrel. Not sure if it was him or not..

But rather than being understanding and helping me out with the refund, he asked that I request a paypal from Ron (above) for the amount and that they just replace my name with his...

I didn't really think that should be my job or responsibility...

Well, to be fair, the whole idea behind this process, and having this thread, and putting down your name, was to make sure that people would NOT back out of their commitment. If we want to talk about responsibility, that might be a consideration. If that were a custom order, you'd be on your own to find another buyer.

As Hark mentioned, Darrel is traveling on business (first a show, now meeting with dealers/clients), so it would have been someone else that you talked to.

Regarding the part in bold, given that it was repeatedly stated throughout the process that the deposit is non-refundable, I think it is your responsibility. So I don't think it's at all unreasonable for them to ask that you transfer your spot to Ron by having him PayPal you the money for the deposit directly.

EDIT: Looks like crimsonfalcon beat me to the deposit/responsibility point.

Asking this guy who doesn't know me to send me a Paypal payment is normal practice?

You act like I got a wild hair up my butt and changed my mind.

This is a unexpected charge and forgive me for not having $1200 in my bank laying around for occasions such as this. I sent my payment on day one, one of the first to preorder.. So I wouldn't give up this awesome opportunity if I didn't have too, but a knife is a luxury, paying taxes is more important, sorry.

You may want to look at this in a different light. If Ron hadn't come along, you would either be out your deposit or have to come up with the extra money and then once you received the knife sell it if needed for the cash. Big loss or big hassle with delayed recovery of money.

You have fortunately been given an out with Ron wanting a knife. I would take it. At the end of the day you have had an unexpected situation arise and you need to adjust for it, not expect others to do it for you.

I understand your concern with taking money from a stranger, but this is easy. Ron gives you the money or he doesn't. I hope for your sake he does so Uncle Sam doesn't come knocking! Also remember Darrel doesn't know most of us and has committed to doing a small run of custom knives at a discounted price for strangers. He is running on faith that we are all good for it. The shuffling around, backing out, paying late, etc. is not going to help future opportunities like this. It makes the process not worth it for him at some point when the hassle overrides the pride and pleasure of doing something fun for his fan base. Yes he is likely profiting from this run but he has easier ways to make money.

I think everyone understands unexpected expenses, circumstances change, etc. but this isn't Darrel's fault you weren't aware or prepared for your tax situation. The burden to deal with it unfortunately falls to you. If you are running thin on cash, pass on the high end knife that requires money to be tied up for 6 months.

Sucks you are losing out on this, but you gotta take it in stride.

I know I am terribly late to this party, but I only join a few days ago and just spent the last two hours reading this entire post. If possible I'd really like to get in on this. I can take #39 if it's still open, and I can get my payment in next Friday FOR SURE, and I won't back out, if that happens I won't expect a refund!! I love the excitement and enthusiasm this is causing, I want to be a part of it!! Funny thing is, I contacted HTM today with an inquiry about buying a GH Radian!

And one little teensy question??................ Why isn't the Radian blade available for this project? I have just read the entire thread, and I'm betting if the Radian had been a choice, a lot of members wouldn't be waffling between the Torpedo and the Bowie, as they are very close in looks, and the Radian is totally unusual, and really is DDR/HTM's invention!!....................I'm just sayin' lol

Just replied to your email -- you can still get in on it. :)

Regarding the Radian blade, I don't know for sure why it wasn't offered. My guess is that on the whole it's not as popular of a blade shape as the other two, making it less viable as an option for relatively small runs such as this one (where they'd have to set up the tooling, etc. for only a handful of blades in that shape); there weren't any Radians among the KnifeCenter exclusive M390 Gunhammers either.

How do I get a hold of someone at HTM? I tried Friday all day and no luck. I tried 3 different numbers.

Since there are two people now joining, my slot should be fine I believe.

Neuron got your Pm this morning, yes I will take spot #19, I will call the number you posted and pay in full on a bowie blade and manual flipper. Thanks for keeping in contact with me and allowing me on getting in line. Martin

Did we ever find out if their will be ay progress photo's? That would make this project even more special imo:thumbup:

I've added the three "late joiners" to the list in their requested spots. :)

I'm sure Darrel will be able to do that. I'll remind him of it as it gets closer to the knife actually reaching its production slot.

Neuron. How so I get ahold of HTM? Ron in another thread said he would take my spot. I need to get us switched.

Use the main shop number on the website. (If you've had trouble reaching anyone at that number on a given day, it's because they're still getting things up and running at the new shop, so there may not be someone manning the phones at all times.)
