I wasn't happy with my first entry knife so I finally finished this one.

Spec:

Steel: 3/16" 1084 heat treated by me
Blade: 4 3/4" chisel grind with semi convexed edge
overall length: 9 1/2"
Finish: bead blast
Handle: OD Green G10
Hardened spike on the bottom
Sheath: Pancake style kydex with large teklock and paracord mounting holes around the perimeter

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be part of this KITH.

All a bunch of great entries IMO.

Nightman I liked your first design but this second attempt you really nailed it. Much sleeker looking and your file work and angles are immaculate.

Well here it is. Knife #15 and my first knife that will go to someone outside of my friends and family.

Here are the specs:

Steel: Aldo's 1095, HT'ed by me in my Evenheat Oven
Overall: 8 1/8"
Blade: 3 1/2"
Pins: 1/8" Copper
Scales: Black G10
Finish: Vinegar etched
Sheath: Kydex w/ paracord mounting holes

Finally got the blade done, will have a sheath to go with it as well. The blade is 3/16" 1095, clay quenched in parks50. About 9" overall length. Stabilized chechen handle held on with Gflex and corby bolts. I think this is my best so far (not saying much), had to learn a few new things with this one and it was overall a great learning experience. All WIP on this forum helped tons along with help from a few members of the forum in getting the hamon and working with 1095. There help is very much appreciated.

Here's mine:
Bead blasted Aldo's 1084. Satin top, bottom and swedge
Stabilized walnut and natural G10 handle
Tapered spine
Hand stitched leather sheath.
9 1/2" OAL, 4 1/2" blade

I also made the basket weave leather stamp out of a bolt. There's a pic of that at the end.

I had cerakoted the blade but when I put it in my knife vise, I put the metal plate in upside down. So instead of deer leather against the blade, I was cranking down a piece of scrap O1 into it. Guess cerakote has it's limits too... Masked off the blade and bead blasted it, acid etched it and bead blasted it again. Not the best finish for 1084 but without taking off the handle that's the only thing I could think of, with my tools and skill level. I'd keep it well oiled.

Wow, I might rush to finish one just to get a shot at that sheath! Maybe I could still get a kitchen knife finished. I admire you guys who can make a decent blade AND sheath AND handle.

Awesome entries so far!

Nightman- I'd be interested in learning your methods for your spine jimping, is it all hand filed? The knife is sick!

Thanks guys. Those are some great looking knives. Mike, that basket weave stamp is great.

The spine is all hand filed with chainsaw files and a 20 TPI file from Jantz. I think i do them a little different on every knife. I just like to experiment.

I was very proud of how this knife and sheath turned out. It is a design that I have been wanting to make for a while and am happy that it will be going to a nice home next month.

I´m finally done but I´m glad Stacey decided to move the deadline to dec 15. This is my 6th inter frame folder, the 3rd in titanium. I try to give credit whenever possible and this design has taken a lot of influence from the Chris Reeve Mnandi. I gave it some more curves and a different inlay shape, hopefully enough to make it mine. The knife is not perfect but I´m pretty happy with it and it´s probably a pretty good reflection of my current skills. Comments are more than welcome, thanks for looking.
Specs:
Blade in RWL34 stainless, approx 3" long, hollow ground on 12" wheel, 59-60 HRC, professionally HT´ed. Handrubbed 600 grit finish.
Interframe handle in titanium grade 2, sandblasted and anodized with carbon fiber lightning strike inlay finished at 1200 grit.
Inlaid spring/lockbar in 6al4v ti (grade5), gold anodized. Handmade anodized ti pocket clip.
G10 backspacer.
Bronze washers.
Opens and closes smoothly, zero blade play in any position. Blade is nicely centered. Strong lockup, but lockbar sticks slightly. Medium strong detent. Easy one handed operation.
No visible gaps around inlays.
Since the screws are customized, metric M2´s (apart from pivot and thumb stud), I will send along a couple of extra screws with the knife, in case the originals should get stripped.

So far, only half the prospective entrants have finished their knives. Mine is done, but I'm not posting a photo yet. The guys below are done. The rest of you only have five days left. When I get up around 6AM Dec 16th, it is closed.

That is one absolutely beautiful knife, it makes me wish I could make a knife in 4 days just to get a chance of receiving it, but my shop space is still stuffed with boxes from the house renos:( but I am working on getting cleaned up so I can get back to making.
