Thanks Mikey for volunteering for a tedious task! I volunteer to help with the 2012 knife, but we need more talent to step up too.
The project needs more people good with a spread sheet, money management and organization - not me!

That rules me totally out!

Glad to see others consider the TL-29. Micarta and KA-BAR would be neat.

Thanks in advance for the hard work by those that end up getting this made; hope I can get in on it.

TL-29? Isn't that what we just did? I'd rather see something like my old Buck Yachtsman.

Splitback Whittler, Gun Stock, Camper/Scout knife, Trapper, Swayback Jack, any medium frame knife works for me, preferably jigged bone of some type, (love the way the 2011 scales came out).

I'll find somethin' in the 2012 choices I like, I've gotten everyone at this point, why stop? ;)

Can't go wrong with a GEC make... a "'Square Bolster Stockman (3 blade)" about 3 3/4 in. with ringed bolsters...similar to the Case #92, that was 4in. long ??? The main blade, being a ""Muskrat Clip"" rather than the regular clip blade, pen blade & sheeps foot ??? And always........some very nice ""STAG"" handles !!! Now there's a knife...just sayin...

This will be my first forum knife as well so I will be happy with just about anything. I would prefer GEC and if we went with a single blade maybe we could upgrade the scales to stag. Just a thought.

if i am lucky enough to do the label for the 2012 i promise to create to the best of my abilities a snazzy label, but if its a whaler or a toenail, lookout!:D
whaler just evokes so much imagery, as does the toenail...
just saying whaler toenail! although i did pull for the executive whittler back for the 2010 i think, it was a neat looking pattern.
WHALER!!!!

As I wrote on another thread, it seems that lately I have more time to dedicate to random thoughts... :D
The thing with the Sunfish is that GEC (if the 2012 knife will be made by GEC) already has one in production...so the uniqueness of the BF knife would be kinda lost, unless someone comes out with a very innovative version of the same pattern.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Peanut has never been chosen as BF knife, and I guess sooner or later it should. Again, I think that a secondary wharncliffe blade on the Peanut (such as in the AG Russell pinched peanut) would be great. 3" closed? sounds good to me.It would be a totally new pattern (and frame, I guess) for GEC, but since it seems to be a very popular design, maybe they would decide to take that path. Same for the Canoe (providing the wharncliffe secondary blade).
Again, just random thoughts...

I'm happy to do this if no one else expressly wants the job. I'm going for my math phd and do taxes on the side, so it's safe to say I can add and subtract :). Plus, I had fun from the sidelines with this year.

I can step up with spreadsheet tracking of info addresses etc as I geniunly have CDO (OCD with the letters in the correct order as they should be) but in terms of mailing labels etc probably someone else. But if you want meticulous records kept and then turned over for shipping to someone let me know fellas.

Aside from contributing to this thread, I would like to help too, so if there's something I can do from the distance, I'll be happy to help.

I totally agree, if I had the cash atm I'd shell out for a whaler but I'm keeping what money I have for this years forum knife! :D

If I can help any way I will, maybe the committee this year could create a gmail account in which all email correspondence can go to and be used for future years? so members in the committee dont have to go back and forth with questions and such.

Rick,

I promise to make time to visit you next time I end up in Idaho Falls. You have to teach me how to fish that Snake River. I am not just saying that cause you have posted a sweet lookin toenail either. How can you resist that fat juicy honkin knife. Actually the photo credits go to BigfattyT:thumbup: but Rick you can guide me on that beautiful river anytime still. :D

One thing to keep in mind is that size counts. A couple of years ago, we had an individualized BF stamp made and the plan is that for each year, we grind off a star. The stamp would probably not work for a super small pattern like a peanut.

I have no doubt that everyone would be devastated if you didn't do the label for 2012. I think it's a safe assumption that you're on the committee ;)
