I didn't get in on any of the previous BF knives. But I'd definately be in for one this year if there was something like a single blade, maybe stag sodbuster in 1095 with a spear point blade, or a single blade 3" to 3 1/2" Barlow. Something that's more pocket friendly than a full-sized sunfish. Even maybe a grandad barlow, although that's getting pretty big for everyday carry without a sheath. Or maybe something with a spear or clip and a sheepsfoot. Sorry, but wharnclif blades just don't do anything for me. I have a few Camillus TL-29s and never carry one, not since I stopped carrying a tool bag around for work anyway.

If we don't make it a three blade whittler with carbon steel blades and stag slabs then a nice reproduction of one of my favorite EDCs, the Case Copperlock. Both simple but useful.

I like the idea of a BFC contributor making the knife. i could go for a buck sodbuckster in 1095, brass pivot, lockback

Please have GEC to make us a 3 5/8" to 3 3/4" whittler with split backsprings, cattle frame with stag or jigged bone, master clip, pen and sheetfoot as secondary, and definitely swedges on all three blades. I agree with Jack, just like the third one from the top. Please .. please .. pretty please!!!

Hmmm... I vote for a split backspring whittler on the frame of a sowbelly or cattle knife like the ones shown below. With sheep foot, spey, and clip or spear. 3 5/8" to 3 3/4" closed.

Third down from the top:

I have no doubt that everyone would be devastated if you didn't do the label for 2012. I think it's a safe assumption that you're on the committee ;)

Thanks Campbell!!! just didnt want to assume, also if anybody would like to take a crack at it i wouldnt have a problem with stepping aside or arm wrestlin over it! perhaps a drinkin contest:D
regards
gene

P.S. WHALER! WHALER! WHALER

Your work on previous knives has been astounding, and much appreciated! can not wait to see what ideas you have running for 2012 when a pattern is picked. :D

I would be all over a gunstock or split backspring whittler. After those, third choice would be a Texas Jack.

Sod Buster in stag or a Sunfish/toenail is my vote for sure. GEC did a wonderful job on this years. So they would get my vote if they were willing? But I am very fond of Stockman designs as well. I guess I'm sayin, "I'm in no matter what".

Yes PLEASE 3 5/8 would be fine 3 1/2 even better.

For the sunfish guys, how would you feel about a small (3") sunfish? I thought about that last night at work when I reached into my pocket an that's what I was carrying. More pocket friendly and more likely to be carried/used than a 4 1/4" inch full sized one. maybe with a spear main blade and a same-sized sheepsfoot on the other end? In 1095, all steel and smooth white bone would be nice in my humble opinion.

I'm open to about anything, and the sunfish seems to be a popular possibility. Does anyone use these? I can't see myself ever having a use for the large rope knives. A baby sunfish at about 3.5" is an interesting pattern. I got a chance to handle some collectors club knives this weekend, this one is a baby sunfish with a spear pen combination, and I can see how it would be a heck of a cutter! So I can see your point ET10.

This is about the same size as a cattle knife, interesting pattern.

Gotta admit...I really like the look of this one.

GEC does very nice work How about a Remington Norfolk style whittler or half whittler ( if 3 blades is too many ) with handle slabs in stag, jigged bone and pearl to offer some variety. I suppose making it a LOCKING whittler would be too much to ask for (Queen made some of these for Schatt and Morgan Premier not long ago.)
