3 1/2 inch vs 4 1/4 inch. 3 1/2 is plenty. 4 inch plus is a handful...as you can see.

4 1/4" and 4 inch plus isn't even in the poll. Your picture exaggerates and skews the 3.5"-4" category.

I do agree with you and those that say 3 5/8" would be a great length for a Congress Jack. I voted for 3.5"-4" so we could get over the 3.5" hump.

Dave, those congress might just change my aversion to the pattern. What maker? Queen? I really like those.

Winchester by Blue Grass, which of course is Queen...:D

They are sweet. The little one has been an EDC for a week. 1095 blades. Got em all poppin sharp!

3 5/8"

Mike at Collectors is now showing a S&M (Queen) Half Congress at 3 5/8"
Which means Queen has the frame size

I do not know if they do Micarta

I believe they released a line with green canvas micarta just few weeks ago.

Didn't we have a thread with pics of traditional slipjoints that had micarta scales? J Oeser does a great job on his slipjoints with micarta covers. Queens micarta line looked good on their sodbuster, not so much on other patterns. Ray Laconico used micarta on his slipjoints when he made them. I believe that the Khnutbusters mainly have micarta scales? I had a Camillus cigar jack that had creamy white "Westinghouse" micarta scales, I believe.

Just to get a feel for what the scales might look like, outside of the cover poll thread,

I just got an A. G. Russell "Cowboy" with black Rucarta (A. G.'s version of micarta), and it looks spiffy, on a shadow pattern. Not sure how it would look with bolsters.

If we went with the 3.5" Jack, that covers more than 50% of votes. :D

It's nice to have my choices be #1.:)

Looks like Congress Jack 3.5" - 4" will be the winner this year. Should the next polls be on what shapes for the primary and secondary blades, followed by one for bolsters (none, blade end, or both ends) and plain v rat-tail v threading (# of threads 1, 2, ...)?

I voted 3.5-4" but would like to keep it closer to 3.5 if possible - 4" is my cutoff. Great job slimming down the process this year guys!

Voted 3.5" jack; if the main blade passes 3" it becomes a deal breaker for me due to legal technicalities.

Thanks for voting, everyone! We're going to close this round of polls. Once we get our poop in a group, we'll let you know what our next steps are.
