2013 Case/Bose Collaboration

Wow, I have seen a posted price of 450$ for the bone ones. I have a stag on order, that has got to tip the 500$ mark. A little higher than I thought it would be, but I will still pay it.

whoa i just saw them $450-569 for the abalone




im thinking at that price point i'd prefer to buy a true custom knife from one of the makers here

I'm not on any lists yet but I think I'll hold off a bit at $450... That's more than I paid for my Case/Bose Damascas knives...
 
A dream knife for me for sure. I about fell over when I saw a pic of It. Unfortunately at that price I will never be able to talk my wife into that one.
 
Pardon my ignorance but why are the "production run knives " a fraction of the prices mentioned above-300-450?
Is it simply the limited edition first run idea?
Are the production runs any lesser quality ?I have a Case TB backpocket and a TB Swayback Jack.
Both are awesome.
Why the high price and clamour for a spot on "the list"?
 
the higher dollar limited run pieces use higher grade materials.

blades are often 154cm
stainless steel liners,bolsters
bushings & higher grade handle materials
 
Wow I don't have any Case/Bose collabs but was thinking this might be the first, but I was thinking the price would be in line with previous versions. I can't see myself putting 400-450 on a knife that is really just a nicely done production knife. I think for that kind of money I will look at actual customs from the makers here.

The swayback jack and backpocket are Tony Bose designs, but not Case/Bose collaborations. The Case/Bose collaborations are cut on a EDM, very expensive, just ask Mike Snody. The people at Case are still great knifemakers and I expect this one to be a knockout.

edit - I have a few slipjoint's made by reputable makers, and they are not on par with some of my Case/Bose collab's

Yeah, hopefully the price comes down and we're just seeing a high price that comes with being the first to offer them.

Another thing with the collaborations is that I believe all the knives are put together by Case's 3 top knife makers, rather than part of normal assembly.
 
Those prices are crazy. I'm guessing dealers are working to get a premium--here's hoping they come down as they are released. Otherwise this one is off my list--for that amount I would go custom, no question.

Are we sure this isnt MSRP and prices will be more tame when fully available? Just hoping, at that price point Ill just look.

I was quoted 475.00 for the stag WT when I pre ordered. I don't know if that was an estimate or a firm price, as they aren't released yet. I guess time will tell.
 
I am pretty sure that it is a set price by Case, my Lanny's Clip was 360$ when I pre-ordered it and that's what I paid. So 475$ for another spring and blade sounds about right.
