2013 Case/Bose Collaboration

Thank goodness for this thread. I almost bought the GEC #53 Furtaker Trapper which looks similar. I'm getting this instead.

Only similar in that you get a clip and wharncliffe style blades too. They really are different knives. GEC #74, Reese Bose WT, GEC #53 Furtaker Trapper.

No problem. Although GEC hasn't made anymore furtaker trappers since the original run and we've still got a few months for the Case.

So, a dumb question about the Bose/Case collaborations. Mr. Bose designs them and Case makes them correct? Mr Bose doesnt work on the actual collaboration knives correct?

"I believe that he puts the edge on them" There are a 1000 knives in each issue, I don't believe he does anything with them. In the past, it has been said on here that Tony B. gives Case an assembled prototype knife and one unassembled plus helps them with the production methods.

This is my understanding also. maybe Kerry or Tony will weigh in and put this to rest.

I don't do anything in the production of these knives besides advise them if I see something that needs corrected. The knives I send them are posted earlier in this thread, they are tuned and right on the money. The pull apart is what they make the program with that EDM wire cuts the parts. That's a very expensive cut and is what makes these things more expensive but you either got to run with the big dogs or stay on the porch. A big hats off to Scott Freer at Case, he's the one that sets all this up. Some here have complained, always the same ones, but I think they are a hell of a knife for the money. Nuff said.

I can't place where I heard this before, I don't know if this was put out by Case, or overheard on here. Yep, for 1000 knives, that would be quite an undertaking. I too look forward to hearing who puts the final edge on. I have always been pleased with my annuals.

And I typed too soon.:foot:

It's a great looking knife. :)

Thanks for the post, Tony. I've missed getting a few of your collaborations, but the 2013 is a must for me. Besides, I wanna run with the big dogs! ;)

They are a hell of a knife. I've owned four models and sold some. Wish I had them back. Probably will get them back sooner or later. That being said I use mine all the time and consider them to be real value.

My complaint? I'm afraid I'll lose them, so I don't always carry my Tribal Spear, coffin jack, dogleg jack or Lanny's Clip, only for special occassions.

Oh yeah, when I do carry them, they outshine my micarta Sebenzas.

:( ;) :D

Carried two today, Norfolk to work and the Lanny's Clip is in my pocket now. Yeah, I'd hate to lose one, but I'd hate to not carry them more. I can't wait for this year's collaboration, it looks terrific and I know I like the pattern from carrying the standard Case and my 2012 BF GEC.

I've found that I like the GEC in a belt pouch though, found a nice custom horizontal one on that great online auction place, with the BSA fleur-de-lis on it, and it feels like it was made for my GEC.

I agree with the Old Dog, they are excellent knives for the money and I for one consider it to be money well spent!

Sorry if im digging up a somewhat dead thread, but does anyone know of a place in canada to reserve or buy a past model of one of the t bose collabs? I would rather not pay the insane customs fees. And also, what handle colours will this be available in, and what is the price point? Sorry if im asking dumb questions, this would be my first t bose collaboration. :D

Thanks for any help,
Anthony

Anthony, you might want to enable email. Unless the dealer is has a BF dealer membership, they won't be mentioned in the thread. This severely limits the responses. On the other hand, there are no limits on which dealer's names can be emailed. I've had email enabled since I joined up in 2006. I've never gotten any spam.

yea, i keep meaning to do that, i normally just mention it in my trade threads. Well if you know a good one, email me at enfinitytech@gmail.com I'd like to find one anywhere in canada that has some of the older collabs as well as is taking reservations for the 2013 model
