2013 Forum knife?

I satisfied my desire for the Lanny's Clip with the Case/Bose collaboration. 154CM is fine with me.:D As stated above, the 2012 Forum knife is very similar in profile to the Lanny's Clip, with the added Wharncliff blade. Here's a VERY poor picture:

Thanks for the photo Daniel! Great looking knives. I wish GEC made a single blade version of the 2012 BF trapper knife.

While I like the BF 2012 trapper, I would much prefer it with just the clip point blade. Reason being is that I don't like the way the Wharncliffe blade feels in my hand when closed while using the clip. I would like it much more if I was just gripping the handle without the back spine of the secondary blade digging into my fingers.

I would like GEC to make a single bladed 2012 trapper because, as stated in this thread, it very closely resembles the Lanny's clip, it would be half as much the cost (or less), and it would have 1095 carbon steel instead of stainless steel for the blade (I'm not disliking the 154cm steel, I just prefer my traditional knives to have carbon steel that will attain a nice patina over time).

That being said, I understand that this is probably an impossibility as a bladeforums 2013 knife, and it's probably not going to happen with GEC (considering all the other single bladed trappers that they already produce).

Has a lockback been done yet? It seems rather plain, but I would love to see a sweet stainless lockback in the future.

When we design a knife we need to take into consideration our bladeforums tang stamp...how about a 4" or under fixed blade? sharpfinger from GEC? :) its out of the usual box, and I bet GEC would make an amazing fixed blade.

In 2009 it was a Queen/S&M Barlow. I still see 1 come up for sale on the Forum now & then. Here's a pic!

If we take the fixed blade route into consideration, we could go with a custom maker ;). Just saying...

I did have one of GEC's 23 sized fixed blades, and I really liked it. They overbuilt the sheath, but overall it was a fine knife. I sold it at a gun show before Christmas, and already miss it.

Looking at the book Knife in Homespun America, there are literally dozens of different patterns out there that are available, not as plentiful as folders, but lots out there. The puukko is one of the first that comes to mind.

I like the single blade slipjoint or lockback idea. We already have the 73, 23, backpocket and 110. What about Buck making a custom knight/squire etc? I would like to go with GEC, but have we looked at anyone besides Queen and Case? Didn't we do a Canal Street one year? So many different choices, I would like to go with a folder from GEC, but so many good ideas have been raised in here. My wallet hates you, but I love it!

BTW, Schatt and Morgan is still part of Queen, Ryan Daniels said SM will be mainly 420HC. I would like to see D2 or 1095 from any Queen products.

That custom maker would have to be able to produce a bulk number of knives, in a short period of time, consistent with quality and keep it to around $100 - $150 per knife to keep with previous budgets. :)

Yep, midtech was kind of what I was thinking, water or laser jet cut to begin with, maybe stamped out. I guess BHK would be the only one that comes to mind in that realm, not really true custom.

I suggest GEC for that because their bones and handle materials IMO are not equaled by any production maker in the US (likewise their traditional thin flat grinds). Even Ken Erickson commented about the 2012 that the consistency with the bone was well done, might as well stick with the cream of the current crop.

Just for information. I'd imagine the folks who have been involved with these since the outset, would like something a little different from those already made.

Here's a pretty lousy picture of the BF Knives 2007 through 2012. Bottom left to right is 2007, 08, 09. Top left to right is 2010, 011,012. I think the only one I'm missing is the Ring Opener, which was the first in 2006? I believe the 2010 was the first to use our tang stamp.

Almost there Gary. Now you just need the elusive ring knife to complete the set.

I know I'm alone in this, but for once I'd like the annual BFC forum knife to be a single blade. A sodbuster with nice wooden scales, maybe yellow bone or micarta. Probably too boring for most folks though.

I have one of the Daniels contract BHK produced Bushby knives, called a Work Horse. D2 and buffalo horn. The horn isn't that flashy, but is well made by BHK. GEC does have some of the nicest handle materials I've seen.

I was never really that interested in any of the forum knives before, until I saw the 2012 trapper. That one knocked my socks off.

I joined too late to get in on the 2012 knife but I'm sure I will get the next one whatever pattern I'm sure it will be awesome just like the rest I've seen. Count me in
P.S. if anyone wants to get rid of their 2012.....

Whatever the knife ends up being, can we please make it with Steel bolsters/liners/pins!

Also I wouldn't mind some 01 or D2 steel

GEC #15 with sheepsfoot or wharncliffe blade.

GEC #16 with two blades. Their beautiful spear point and sheepsfoot or wharncliffe as the secondary blade.

How about GEC's new #6 with a bottle opener for the secondary blade. Too small for the tang stamp? Would be cool though
