2014 Solvang Knife Show • People, Nordic Knives Shop, Incredible Knives

A great weekend for Knife Shows, looks like great times had ALL Around.

Thanks for sharing the images!!!

Jim great reporting, pictures and the names...awesome job thank you very much

Coop,

Thanks for all the pictures. I am thinking that must have been a challenge because the lighting in that room was . . . well, less than optimal.

I tried to post a review here on Monday but (as is too often the case) this website was having some problems when I tried to do that, and I have been travelling since then. I get home tonight and will try again to post my observations, along with some crappy pictures I took of some terrific knifes.

Coop,

Many thanks, again !
Thoroughly pleasing and enjoyable report and imagery.

Thank you Jim. One of these days, I hope to get out there for this show. Seeing many of these folks some I have known for decades just puts a big smile on my face.
That was especially a great shot of Joel and Sandy.

Jim,

AT LAST a thread displaying makers and collectors at a knife show
WITH THEIR NAMES!!!!

Thank you!

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

^^^ Thanks guys!

I promised some images of Nordic Knives. Easily the finest knife store I have ever experienced. The 'quaint' town of Solvang is a destination town with a Scandinavian/Denmark flair and heritage. It's a getaway space, which attracts visitors locally, nationally, and internationally.

It's part of California's renowned wine country. This view was right at the entrance to the town overlooking some fields:

In the town itself there are stores and 'Shoppes'. This one looks inconspicuous to most...

Ever single knife on display has a consistent card with specs and clear pricing:

Watch for those photobombs! ;)

I think I missed one of the three LARGE cabinets, too!

Dave and Dan are as knowledgable as they are inviting. Please visit.

(And THIS is also SoCal: I spent Monday visiting the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. A slice of Americana which is as unique as Times Square, only to the left. :D

Coming up: Knife images....

I'm about 2/3rds done with editing. I still have some approvals I'm awaiting.

Charles Bennica. That largest crescent button is a CA opener and a lock release.

Not a maker at the show, but one of the first a prominent collector was wanting me to show: The incomparable Lloyd Hale.

Koji Hara brought these incredible folders, each in a wooden box.

Matt and Mary Jo Lerch always raise your interest. Here's a pair of their offerings.

Mamoru Shigeno has been making knives for over 20 years. It shows:

Gene Shadley was one of the makers whom Bob Loveless carried a pocket knife from. Such is his quality:

Great report Coop. Enjoyed all the images of the knives and found a few to "keep". Nice to see the scenery too as well as the shop which is a different location from when I had been there about 10 years ago as I recall. Always enjoying doing business with Dave too. Looks like a fun show but long way to go for us now.

What a pleasure viewing this thread, great folks, great scenery and great knives. It doesn't get much better. Thanks Jim.
Wow, check out the beautiful Stag on a few of those knives.

Thanks, Marcel, Dudley, Don, Joe, Steve, Murray, and Kevin.

I'm moving to the next page with more photos....

Jim
