Thanks for answering the "finish" question Eric!
A glaze finish is right up my alley!
For those who are new at this, a glaze finish is not quite a high polish. It has a lightly "brushed" look that is very fine. Perfect for this knife, IMO.
I haven't carried a stainless knife for quite a while, so I am looking forward to toting this one!!

Can anyone tell me about sharpening 440C?? Gary??:D

Could only be my sharpening technique, but I have found that a slightly more obtuse angle works better for 440C. Instead of 15-18° per side, 20-25° per side works better for me.

So Charlie/Barry is there enough on order now to have them start the process of 300? curious minds want to know ;)

as to sharpening 440C, I've only had a few of them and they were not difficult to sharpen.

I'm just hoping that they have the Rockwell up around 59 or 60 possibly?? as I certainly plan on putting her to use!

Buck used to harden 440C to 58-59 and those blades work just fine for me.
440C wants to be in the high 50's, only.
Early smiths using 440C (early 1960's) made the mistake of hardening it to the low 60's. 440C developed a reputation for brittleness as a result. Battling the reputation for brittleness is why Buck had that thickened edge geometry on their early knives.

Yep I've read the most you'd want would be 60 curious as to what their treatment is

Even Canal Street's 14-4 is only 58-59 HRc, so their 440C is probably in the 57-58 range. Should be very similar to GEC's hardness.

OK, Got my order in. Wasn't the steel I wanted, but it "was" the pattern I voted for, so....... :p

Huge thanks and gratitude to all who have organized and worked on the 2015 knife. We have come a long way since the first one. If I remember correctly the order total was around 45 or so. Thank you all for keeping this tradition alive.

We overseas have to pay about 25% customs tax extra on top, the shipping cost is taxed too.

Will, if it is not secret, where do you live? We don't have to pay custom fees when shipped with USPS. We avoid UPS because they go via their hub and charge also custom fees then.

It seems the first batch will sell at a brisk pace!

This years knife isn't my cup o' tea, but I think it was really cool that every last detail of the knife was voted on.

The knife that folks buy will be the exact knife they want.

This years process was very fun and just a great way of doing it.

...still wish Case would of stepped up though.

BIG thanks to all involved in the process!!!
