2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

I think a medium sized 2 blade coke-bottle Jack would be "swell." LOL Something like an upsized Pemberton, not quite as big as a swell center hunter but not as tiny as the Pembie. Long pull clip as main with maybe a caplifter/coping secondary. A coke-bottle for opening coke bottles. For cover materials... Dead Skunk? or Smooth White Bone with a Plain Shield?

I'd also like to see GEC bring back the single blade toothpick with the muskrat clip maybe done in some nicely figured Buffalo horn.

elephant toenail or a swell center whaler! go big or go home!!:D
i say this every year, likely have a stroke if'n it ever come to fruition
i think theres a few of us that say this each time, were weirdos though
Gene

Maybe if I ever had a Elephant's Toenail/Sunfish to play with I might be swayed but I've never even held one, does RR make one? If so I might have to pick one up and see what the hub bub is about Bub. ;)

I've always liked the Schrade USA 93OT. A turkish clip with a sheepfoot blade on a serpentine frame:thumbup: I think it measured @ 3 1/2 to 3 7/8 closed?

How about a shadow style? That'd be different and cool!

I would definitely be in for a GEC made, jigged bone, in stainless peanut style.

I'd also like a swayback, dogleg trapper as long as no wharnecliffe, and I'm sure many other patterns.

+1. Does the design have to be based on an existing frame to keep costs down?

If we choose a new pattern that is on GEC's eventual agenda anyway, we do not pay for tooling. With another company there might be an upcharge for a new pattern. Anywhere from $5 to $15 per, depending on the pattern and the size of the order. We did not pay for #77 pattern tooling, because Mike Latham and I ordered some also (SFOs) which made it worthwhile for GEC to make a set of dies.
I wouldn't worry about that cost too much. Better to get a knife we want and like.

I would also like to see a 48 slimline trapper. With a clip pt blade. African Blackwood or dark ebony scales. And most importantly, carbon steel!
The 73 scout in Ebony or Stag is another favorite of mine that helped push me into collecting as many GECs as possible. I think of it as sort of a flagship model that deserves some better recognition. I can't say enough good things about its pocketable size, blade selection, and solid heft for heavy duty chores.
It may be early to start this process but it just shows how much we love and appreciate these BladeForums knives, and I think GEC should be the official manufacturer as well.

It doesn't matter, anything else will pale in comparison to this years Stag Jack! :D

There have been some who have pushed for a blade forum peanut for as long as I've been a member, and probably longer.

I too would like to see a BF peanut.

That's how I feel, mine was an exceptional knife and I'm bowled over by it.:thumbup:

That said :D WE need a stainless knife for once, I don't count D2 there even if it is fine stuff. We've got a single-blade at last but how about a single-spring 2 blades GIANT PEN type?? As Jeff mentioned, 4" may be the new one to aim for.

My suggestion: a Surveyor based on GEC's 81/2 frame. Clip master or Spear with Sheepfoot minor, single-spring. Somebody mentioned we need colour so a special commissioned acrylic from GEC along the lines of Butter & Molasses/ Blood&Custard to imitate the fab Old School Cell - without its anti-social potential. Nice large shield. OK last orders for this one 31st Dec 2014....

Regards, Will

I could get behind a BF peanut for sure. Tru Ivory (mentioned earlier) handles ...

I could go for this!

Second choice a peanut

I vote same knife as this year, chestnut jig bone, shorter swedge, longer pull moved up a little.
